Who you are:
You are a creative thinker who can simultaneously execute a variety of communications initiatives – from content creation to complex program management – in front of an audience of 19,000 employees worldwide. Your comfort tying messages to business results is clear from your comfort working with an editorial and multimedia team, as well as with a bunch of platforms and formats like video, digital signage, web, and social media. Everyone knows you as that highly organized person who pays close attention to details. You understand that a well-executed project requires collaboration across departments and time zones. You are proactive and can work independently.
You’re an excellent communicator. You present well. Your knack for storytelling manifests across media and conversation and you can write in a variety of tones and formats depending on the intentions behind the message. You know how to distill complex business topics into understandable language for a variety of audiences.
You realize that data is what we’re about at Bloomberg and communications is as much science as it is art.
What you'll do:
You will inform, engage, enable, and inspire employees through strategic, data-driven communications. What? That means you will provide strategic communications advice, direction, and execution for all-employee and targeted internal messaging campaigns across our editorial and multimedia platforms. The communications range from organizational notes to product and employee profiles to digital media that conveys corporate culture. Additionally, you will work on many projects intended for external audiences – like working on events, support for media outreach, and support for content-driven recruiting efforts.
One of the major things you’ll be responsible for is managing a digital signage platform (3,650+ screens across 100+ offices globally) that includes visual and metrics displays designed to share relevant, important, and targeted information to Bloomberg employees globally.
You’ll pitch ideas, manage, and create various forms of content for our platforms, including digital signage, internal and external websites/blogs, social media accounts, video, employee newsletters, and a YouTube channel.
You should be comfortable taking direction from and giving strategic counsel to senior executives. You are known for your ability to both advocate for ideas and, when necessary, suspend your agenda. You're an experienced relationship-builder and stakeholder manager.
We'll trust you to:
• Work closely with Marketing, HR, Design, Multimedia, PR, and Risk teams to ideate, craft, and deploy strategic messages
• Stop on a dime and change direction when urgent communication needs arise
• Build and execute integrated external and employee communications strategies, programs, and actions that enable recruitment of top talent, drive sales, and retain our best folks
• Manage relationships with vendors
• Team up with PR colleagues to distribute internal communications that support external campaigns, and vice versa
• Develop and maintain awareness of editorial calendars and the needs of business departments across the globe to maintain communications synchronicity
• Develop, implement, and maintain appropriate metrics to evaluate effectiveness of communications and the ability to influence behavioral change
• Multitask in a fast-paced environment
You should have:
• A Bachelor's degree along with at least three years of relevant experience in communications
• The ability to strategically plan and a penchant for the proactive
• Experience with CMS, such as Scala, would be beneficial
• Knowledge of video production is a big plus
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills for internal and external audiences
• The ability to translate business needs into compelling messages
Please be:
• Emotionally intelligent
• Independent AND a team player
• Innovative and willing to let go of ideas that don’t work
• Comfortable working shoulder to shoulder in an open plan environment
