User Research Moderator Intern
As part of the User Research Lab, the User Research Moderator Intern will assist in improving the quality of Ubisoft games by running studies and gathering feedback from players to answer development team needs and design questions.
In collaboration with an analyst, the moderator will recruit study participants that fit predetermined profiles, observe participants as they interact with our games, and collect and compile data to identify trends and issues. The goal is for the moderator to serve as the main point of contact between our players and our games.
Type of position:
Contract (4 months), open to co-op students and new grads
Responsibilities:
The main and routine tasks of the User Research Moderator Intern are to:
• Observe study participants;
• Recruit study participants that fit predetermined target profiles;
• Set up and rearrange the playtest room;
• Validate the technical aspect of the playtests (multiplayer connections, stability of the versions that are used, etc.);
• Revise the questionnaire on the game experience and conduct interviews at the end of the day;
• Take part in the daily observation debriefing session with the analyst;
• Help compile and enter data;
• Manage paper archives (NDA, reward sheets, etc.);
• Update participant databases;
• Assist an analyst in defining test protocols to answer development team questions
• Assist an analyst with feedback redaction, identifying trends and proposing actionable suggestions post playtest;
• Possible participation in additional tasks and projects beneficial to the lab and the studio’s development (game design research and administrative support);
• Carry out all other related tasks.
Training:
• Bachelor’s degree in Game Design, Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction or a related field in progress.
Essential Skills:
• Knowledge of user research methodology preferred;
• Good game knowledge (controls, progression and mechanics);
• Experience in project coordination an asset;
• Knowledge of the video game industry (major players and products);
• Excellent communication skills ;
• Solid knowledge of Word and Excel;
• Technical understanding of video game platforms;

• Good interpersonal skills;
• Good organizational skills;
• Ability to manage concurrent projects;
