Forbes Media is hiring a Sales Plannerin our San Francisco office. This position reports to our SVP, Sales.
Our Sales Planners serve as key members of the sales team overseeing the RFP process. This includes preparing sales proposals, collecting and presenting research information, providing clients with rates, creative specifications, edit calendars, managing deadlines and providing optimal client service support to help move the sale from pitch to IO.
Sales Planners are responsible for working with the AdOps teams to set up and launch campaigns, in addition to collaborating with various internal groups on account prospecting, campaign development, research support, program ideation and access to relevant Forbes case studies in order to generate (and maintain) an active sales pipeline.
Responsibilities:
• Day-to-day support of the media sales team through development of media plans and decks, and marketing collateral for adv proposals and sales calls.
• Prepare proposals - proactive and in response to RFPs – that are accurate, strategic, creative, meet objectives, and submitted on time to best deliver the client expectations (KPIs) while maintaining Forbes Media pricing integrity.
• Solid understanding of Forbes Media products, audiences, offerings and capabilities.
• Leverage Forbes databases (Ad Solutions, BV Generator, DML, etc.) to produce compelling sales proposals.
• Collaborate across the BV, Insights, Conference and Strategic Sales teams on proposal development to drive sales from pitch to IO.
• Understand Forbes.com inventory and traffic patterns to effectively put together media plans customized to each client.
• Work across the organization to utilize historical data, benchmarks, case studies and recaps to support strategic decisions about new sales programs.
• Work closely with and communicate directly with client/agency contacts on a daily basis during the initial sale process, from pitch to IO.
• Serve as primary liaison between client and Ad Ops during initial sale for inventory verification and availability. Ensure timely campaign launches.
• Traffic necessary paperwork and campaign elements through internal channels.
• Campaign management including processing IOs, inventory management and bookings.
• Serve as primary liaison between the client and Forbes for all advertising needs and inquiries during the initial sales process.
• Accompany Sales Reps on select and relevant sales calls
• Administrative tasks such as issue mailings, database management, expense report preparation and occasional event planning.
Required Competencies/Skills:
• 6 months to 1 year of work/internship experience in one of the following areas: strategic planning (experience at an agency or with a publisher) or digital sales
• Digital planning, sales or campaign management experience a must
• Proficiency with reporting tools such as SalesForce, Media Radar, ComScore, Adbook.
• Above average Excel and PowerPoint proficiency
• Strong project management and organizational skills
• Ability to multi-task, efficiently manage time and prioritize deliverables
• Possess exceptional written and verbal communication abilities for internal and external relationship management
• Have solutions-oriented customer service focus that conveys and demonstrates responsiveness and competence showcasing a sense of urgency
• Self-motivated to work independently, as well as part of a team
• Detail oriented
• Bachelor’s degree
