Director, Distribution
The Director, Distribution will help analyze, structure and negotiate deals with SPT’s key global clients, including Netflix and Amazon. This person will assist the Senior Vice President to ensure SPT is optimizing distribution across all windows with SPT’s global clients to secure the maximum revenue for its entire catalog of current and library TV series and feature films. This person will also work with the various salespeople and sales planners in all the field offices and headquarters to prepare availability lists, draft term sheets, and provide feedback on license agreements.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Deal Support and Analysis: Drafting term sheets, reviewing comments and assisting in the preparation of strategies in connection with the negotiation of many of the biggest revenue generating and most complex deals for the studio with SPT’s most important clients (Netflix, Amazon, etc.); will be a key part of the deal-making process from start to end, in close coordination with sales, sales planning, marketing, WPF, Legal and Finance.
• Client Relationships: Supporting the development of strong relationships with SPT’s key clients and partners around the world.
• Sony Relationships: Helping to manage relationships within Sony Pictures Television (Sales, Sales Planning, Marketing and Business Affairs), across other divisions at Sony Pictures Entertainment (Theatrical, Home Entertainment, Production, Finance, Legal, WPF, People & Organization, etc.) and with other Sony Corp. entities including Music, Electronics, PlayStation, etc.
• Strategy: Assisting with the development and execution of a strategic plan for the licensing of all of Sony’s key TV and feature film assets across the globe; working with all sales offices to assess best means to optimize market potential across all windows.
• Meeting Sales Goals and Promoting New Business Opportunities: Helping to achieve and exceed annual sales budgets focusing on growth targets and established strategies for SPT; continuously working towards generating incremental sales and revenue.
Requirements:
The individual must have and/or demonstrate:
• 8+ years in media sales and management role
• Close attention to detail
• Ability to navigate complex licensing issues and contractual clauses
• Advanced sales, negotiation and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication (verbal/written) skills
• Team-oriented
• Experience working on complex content distribution deals in all media (FTV, BTV, PTV, VOD, AVOD, SVOD, EST)
• Results-driven with strong customer focus and relationship management
• Entrepreneurial spirit and attitude, professional courage, initiative and innovation
• Unquestionable integrity
• Bachelor’s degree, JD or JD/MBA preferred
