Description
NCS Pearson, Inc. seeks a Software Development Manager in Chandler, Arizona. With overall responsibility for resources and technology management, manage one or more JAVA/J2EE software development teams on IT projects of moderate to large size and complexity. Manage overall project development lifecycle, tracking software development milestones and deliverables. Reports on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management and facilitate communication and negotiations with project teams and stakeholders. Collaborate with engineers to architect best technical design and approach for a highly scalable platform. Guide evaluation of non-functional design tradeoffs and ensure decisions align with business goals. Oversee unit testing, and code reviews for functionality, performance and coverage. Supervise software and senior software developers, contract developers and oversee department staffing needs and issues. Set and oversee implementation of project and department goals to align with broader engineering and architectural objectives. Fosters culture of continuous engineering improvement through mentoring, feedback, and metrics. Develops and maintains required expertise to act as knowledge expert for particular product lines. Participates in the solution and resolution process for coding issues. Manage DevOps team supporting production, handle product escalations and ensure customer delight.
Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering plus at least 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience as a technical leader developing JAVA/J2EE software applications for web based learning management systems and / or integration systems in education industry and using the following: Waterfall and Agile methodologies, JAVA/J2EE, Object Oriented Analysis and Design, HTML, Enterprise level Oracle RDBMS, JavaScript/jQuery, SQL, NOSQL, SVN, Weblogic/Tomcat application Server, Spring Framework; XML & XSLT, IMS QTI standards, SCORM object reference model, Cocobase, Struts, Hibernate, REST/SOAP Web Services, JMS, AWS, and SuccessNet/Realize, or parallel learning management system.
