DESCRIPTION:
The Manager, Hard News will work under the guidance and report to the Director, Hard News and be responsible for:
• Manage monthly Close reporting for Hard News broadcasts (CBS This Morning, Evening News, Sunday Morning News)
• Develop and prepare annual budgets and monthly forecasts for Hard News broadcasts
• Prepare monthly variance analysis reports
• Prepare monthly budget performance reports for Senior Management and department heads
• Develop and track individual remote and sponsorship operating budgets to confirm adherence from production units
• Maintain month end schedules for Hard News broadcasts, including but not limited to system of accruals and receivables to reflect accurately the financial position of CBS News
• Work closely with Executive Producers and Producers in connection with tracking costs of major news events
• Support Finance team and Production team with ad hoc requests
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ideal candidate will have:
• Experience with monthly and quarterly reporting, forecasting, and budgeting, ideally in Broadcasting / News coverage
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
• Strong PC skills with excellent competence in the use of MS Office, including Excel and PowerPoint. TM1 and Oracle experience a plus.
• Ability to work in a team environment while working independently on multiple tasks
• A licensed CPA is preferred, but not required
• Anticipate; provide information, data and solutions to Management
• Detail oriented
• Intellectual curiosity, desire to learn about all aspects of CBS News
