The candidate will provide professional HR support to the Higher Ed Sales and Field Marketing organization. Duties may include, but not limited to being the first point of contact for employee relations concerns; providing information to various departments on new sales hires; assisting in new hire orientations, updating and maintaining sales rosters, generating monthly reports, working on Affirmative Action Plan initiatives, and special projects. Must be interested in employment law, especially for San Francisco and California.

• Pearson People Services (PPS), department that handles most admin work

• To be first point of contact for employee relations
MISCELLANEOUS:
• Manage the process of seeking approvals for new hires. Once hired, assist with the assigning, and onboarding employees with PPS (dept that officially adds employees from systems). Ensure various sales departments are informed of the new hires.
• Ensure the process for terminations with the PPS is followed correctly. Inform various sales departments of terminations.
• Provide some support in management of other related employment processes such as payroll, benefits, orientations, etc. if PPS cannot handle.
• Able to create onsite lobby slideshows and materials distributed to employees.
COORDINATE:
• Offer packages with PPS
• Terminations, exit interviews with PPS
• Timecards & Timesheets (only in SF office)
• Interview process: may be asked to do phone interviews, meet & greet applicants (only in SF office)
MAINTAIN:
• Personnel Files via Docushare
• Offer packages (forms)
• Annual Employment Postings & OSHA Logs
CONTINUE DIVERSITY EFFORTS:
• Represent HR in diversity meetings or ERG’s
• Research current diversity & veterans events to share w/ ee’s
OUTREACH TO C&U’S:
• Maintain updated lists of career centers & other non-profit places for AAP
• Contact centers to offer services every 6 mos.
• Research minority & veterans organizations
• Research how we can hire more qualified sales personnel for North America sales force
COMMUNITY OUTREACH:
• Community outreach for volunteer efforts, disaster recoveries, Veterans groups, Disability organizations
• Outreach to non-profit organizations for volunteer work
• Attend free law firm seminars on topics of interest to learn more about employment law
Qualifications
Related work experience
• 1 or more years of administrative experience and project coordination in the human resources field.
Formal education or equivalent
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources or related area.
• Skills
• Experience in some type of HR database system needed, Oracle preferred.
• Proficient use of basic Microsoft Office Suite.
Other
• Proven organization skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining timeliness and accuracy.
• Ability to communicate effectively in varied situations and across all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated ability to meet goals while working under limited supervision.
• The ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with solid judgment and discretion is critical.
• The incumbent must possess self-motivation, enthusiasm, and a positive demeanor toward the job, the company and the work team.
