Role Purpose
The Programmer Analyst will be a member of the NBC Sports Digital Technology Team, directly contributing to our digital efforts for the Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang. This person will primarily be responsible for creating and documenting test plans, analyzing test results, creating metadata models, flowcharts and helping define and executing testing plans in support of the achievement of business requirements for NBC Sports and NBC Olympics digital properties. This includes understanding the basic premise of a client/server environment, troubleshooting tactics, network protocols and content delivery networks.
Responsibilities
Develop technical documentation such as metadata models and flowcharts
Work with end-users to troubleshoot any issues that may arise, document and log software bugs.
Analyze existing applications for performance and accessibility standards
Program and execute performance and benchmarking tests against specifications
Program and test new frameworks across all platforms and devices for compatibility and regressions
Test and implement rules for content delivery configurations
Collaborate with other internal teams and stakeholders to support the business requirements
Provide support during non-business hours as needed
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of NBC Sports portfolio of applications and associated documentation
Pursue continuous improvement opportunities associated with existing software development programs
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience
Minimum two (2) years of experience in a developer/programmer role, working within a technology team, technology department or an IT department
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Excellent understanding of SDLC methodologies
Technical experience or aptitude is essential
Experienced working with internet-based technologies
Ability and desire to continually learn about new technologies and adapt to ever-changing business and industry needs
Additional Qualifications
Experience with JavaScript and JavaScript frameworks
Experience with CSS and CSS frameworks
Experience working directly with web and/or digital video development teams, including partners, vendors and freelancers
Familiarity using GitHub, code repositories, branching and merging strategies
Familiarity and understanding of Continuous Integrations
Excellent organization skills, communication skills and attention to detail, and has the ability to clearly and concisely articulate complex concepts for a variety of audiences
Ability to break down complex concepts, tasks or problems into more simple, understandable language and action plans
Familiarity with Content Management Systems such as Drupal and WordPress

Desired Characteristics
Knowledge of web, online video and mobile standards, best practices, design, usability principles and constraints within web, mobile and e-mail formats
Knowledge of Visio and PowerPoint
Experience working with enterprise CMS platforms such as Drupal and WordPress, familiarity with iOS and Android mobile platforms
Ability to self-start, self-manage, meet deadlines and learn from mistakes

Testing, data validation and data flow experience is a plus
