The Special Sections/Digital Designer is responsible for the design and creation of sales and marketing products and materials, both in print and digital formats, for the advertising division of the SunSentinel Media Group.
This position provides a high level of internal and some external customer service interaction related to ensuring quality ad material is submitted and produced for ad building.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the creation, design, and production of all print ads, marketing collateral, interactive ads (static, flash, rich media, print, video and mobile), admails, marketing web sites, advertiser micro-sites and any other products and services as needed.
• Needs to be experienced in working with internal stakeholders
• Needs to schedule and manage the work flow of each project to ensure proper communication and maintenance of deadlines and quality control.
• Works closely with members of the sales, marketing, business development and editorial departments to help them with any creative needs.
• Identifies needs in the both the workplace and the marketplace for the creation and development of new creative concepts, products, and advancements in the fields of social media, mobile and other developing trends in the interactive media marketplace.
• Responsible for prioritizing ad volume based on multiple products and compliance to established deadlines.
• Traffic clean, legible and directive layouts for production.
• Maintain ability to produce ads as needed in deadline or crunch situations.
• Communicate and coordinate with internal and external customers on issues related to ad material such as proofs, quality or other issues prohibiting good ad flow or ad production.
• Work with various niche product teams for press day issues and be liaison with Advertising for resolution.
• Understand speculative requirements for all SS Media Group products and ensure standards are met when trafficking ad material.
• Create nonprofit vendor tabs, as required.
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Design, Programming, or related field.
• Possession of creative flair, versatility, conceptual/visual ability and originality.
• Several years online and print design, as well as extensive knowledge of design and technical protocols.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Proficient in managing multiple platforms and servers, as well as the following software programs and web languages: HTML, PHP, MySQL, database manipulation, Javascript, XML, CSS, Adobe Flash/Actionscript, Adobe CS, and development of CMS-based web sites
• Four years of experience in a digital or newspaper environment.
• Self-directed and motivated.
• Organized and multi-task oriented.
• Flexible and able to work under deadline pressure.
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite CS5.5 or higher.
• Must be able to type a minimum of 45 wpm with high accuracy.
• Must be MAC literate.
