Responsibilities
Role Summary:
The Director, Film Music Creative is a key member of the Creative group of executives in the Film Music department. This self-starter is responsible for a variety of ongoing film/project-related routines as well as certain special projects acting as in-house music supervisor and day-to-day point person on film and direct-to-video projects.
Essential Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage all music needs of the company’s film and direct-to-video projects during all stages of development, pre-production, production, post-production, delivery and marketing.
Work closely with key decision-makers and filmmaking team: director, music editor, music supervisor, post production supervisor, and composers to collectively determine and execute the musical vision, tone and style that best suits the project.
Identify, help secure and supervise any and all music-related talent, which includes songwriters, recording artists, on-camera performers, musicians, music producers, etc., to execute the project’s soundtrack.
Possess an accurate knowledge of all costs associated with delivery of music elements. Determine and advise on financial needs of project and generate realistic budget with respect to all music related costs. Deliver all required music elements within the established budgetary parameters.
Liaise, effectively communicate, and creatively support other related and involved internal departments within the company i.e. production, post-production, marketing, promotions and home entertainment for all their music needs.
Work closely within the film music department, coordinating with business affairs, music licensing and director of music production.
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years related experience, 5 or more years in the music industry.
Proven track record of a high level of proficiency in music production and its trends.
Prior experience working in music for a motion picture or television studio, production company, music label, composer, or music supervisor
Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail is a must
Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
A driven self-starter
Personal, collaborative and team-oriented spirit with the ability to navigate with a multitude of professionals with different interests
Deadline-oriented and demonstrates a sense of urgency
Delivers on objectives
Entrepreneurial spirit, keeping up with trends in the music industry and related cost of scoring
Ability to multi-task, work in a high speed, high stress atmosphere
