Job Summary:
The HR Benefits Analyst will assist with the administration of employee benefit and retirement programs. This role will assist employees with benefits enrollment and questions, manage all insurance billing, maintains employee database and file, and assist with payroll processing. Responsibilities include explaining benefits and assisting in the business development and planning processes with service providers. Successful execution of this role will not only provide benefit interpretation, guidance, and counsel to employees, but will also serve as a liaison with service providers in business planning and benefit program interpretation.
Job Responsibilities:
• Assist executive employees with filing health, dental, vision life, and other related benefits claims and provide support to ensure the resolution of potential problems
• Challenge denials of claims by insurance companies
• Organize health insurance paperwork
• Track claims to ensure they are accurately processed
• Contact providers and insurance companies to resolve claim problems
• Conducts and participates in a variety of presentations to inform and educate management and employees about changes to benefit plans, administrative practices, and legislated requirements and programs.
• Prepares and schedules meetings designed to help executive employees obtain information and understand company benefits and other related incentive programs. Ensure distribution of required employee notices
• Conduct orientation of self-enrollment system and assist with choices during open enrollment
• Provides support in the development of business processes
• Assists with data necessary to complete government compliance activities (5500s, audits, etc.) employee mailings, vendor billings, coordinating data collection and updating numerous reports for management. Assures processes and procedures are in place to capture and maintain consistent and accurate benefit related data. Assists with employee data auditing and reporting
• Performs other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
Competencies/Skills
• Demonstrated basic knowledge of ERISA, HIPAA, Cobra, employee benefit programs, including flexible spending benefit programs, financial analysis, and budgeting
• Ability to work closely with C-Suite executives
• Demonstrated confidence and high degree of professionalism
• Must exhibit ethical practice and confidentiality with sensitive information
• Broad understanding the insurance claims adjudication process
• Requires strong communication, writing, customer service and analytical skills
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations in computing rates, premiums, and adjustments
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products
• Organizational skills to develop/maintain reporting “standards” where applicable
• Must be a problem-solver
• Must remain open to change and new information and ideas to adapt to the same. Must encourage and foster cooperation and teamwork
Education
• Knowledge of ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, employment, benefit programs, including flexible benefit programs
• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field with an emphasis in finance, or equivalent years professional/analytical experience related to the above described duties
Experience
• Extensive experience with the healthcare industry in order to perform responsibilities effectively
• Experience working for healthcare providers or health plans in clinical, administrative, or legal capacities is preferable
• Minimum 1-3 years related experience required
