Position Summary:
Seeking an experienced telecommunications engineering and operations manager with strong, hands-on technical skills to lead a team of telecommunications professionals. The role will be responsible for all voice and video services in a large, fast-paced, multi-location 24x7 environment. This person will be expected to devote ~ 75% of their time to working hands-on.
Duties and Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Under the general direction of the Director Networking and Telecommunications, this position coordinates our engineering and operations functions for our voice and video communications platforms.
• Guide the overall management and execution of Telecommunications Engineering projects including managing overall technical deliverables that insure successful deployments to meet plan required dates.
• Provide monthly reports on the status of the team and items moving forward.
• Serve as the technical project lead on projects, including coordinating the installation, maintenance, repair and replacement of hardware and software with end users, vendors and Information Technology staff and vendors performing contracted work.
• Manage network and telecom teams who design, test, install, configure, and monitor the telecommunications infrastructure.
• Monitor the corporate telephone systems to ensure they are up and functional on a 7 X 24 basis -- be on call and respond to outages.
• Responsible for technical and managerial leadership in establishment of goals and priorities, design, project planning, day-to-day operation, maintenance and advanced troubleshooting of enterprise-wide telecommunications infrastructure, including telephones, voicemail, Unified Communications and Enhanced 911 applications, network WAN/LAN routing, switching, cabling and wiring.
• Hire, evaluate, and counsel staff. Provide guidance, training, and motivation to develop staff. Promote future technological innovation within the organization by product evaluation and inviting team discussions.
• Develop a system for reliably reporting performance metrics within the environments.
• Provide guidance on bringing about repetitive processes within the group.
• Ability to manage personnel time between project-based work and daily activity.
• Manage 24 x 7 operations teams ensuring optimal system performance including monitoring, surveillance, troubleshooting and restoration.
• Responsible for planning and scheduling network and telecommunication system upgrades.
• Coordinate/Supervise the installation, maintenance and repair work for all cabling related to the telecommunications systems.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities related to those enumerated above which do not alter the basic level of responsibility of the position.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Under the general direction of the Director Networking and Telecommunications, leads employees and contractors performing voice, video and cabling telecommunications work.
Minimum Qualifications:
• A Bachelor's degree and/or eight to ten years of experience in telecommunications and network systems integration including planning, designing and implementation of large scale networking infrastructure.
• The applicant must have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, as well as experience in managing team-based projects and organizations.
Requirements and General Skills:
• Good interpersonal skills, with ability to work across functional lines, and at many levels.
• Ability to work on assigned tasks independently and executes with minimal direction.
• Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, meet project deadlines, and work under pressure Experience with on call.
• Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
Technical Skills:
• Enterprise storage engineering and operations experience with Cisco IP Telephony products.
