Working closely with the Head of Information Systems, provide technical support and guidance for users of the SITS:Vision student records system and assist with the development and implementation of system improvement projects to support the student journey, leading to the highest levels of student satisfaction.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES OF THE JOB:
These are the key responsibilities of the job; on occasion you may be required to undertake other duties commensurate with your grade:
1. To provide SITS training and development for new and existing staff by:
• Training individual members of staff
• Developing training manuals and process documentation
• Assisting with regular business process reviews
• Providing guidance to colleagues regarding the use of new parts of the system.
2. To maintain system integrity by:
• Testing and evaluating software updates
• Monitoring scheduled data imports (e.g. UCAS, SLC)
• Testing new developments within SITS Client and e:Vision
3. To assist with the upgrade process including facilitating User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and ensuring that core processes are thoroughly tested and signed off
4. To provide first line business process and technical support to new and existing SITS and e:Vision users by:
• setting up and maintaining user access;
• helping to solve users’ problems directly, liaising with the Head of Student Information Systems and software suppliers where necessary;
5. To develop the use of e:Vision by:
• Developing new functionality within the portal using key e:Vision system tools – Vistas, Tasking, etc.
• Providing project support to new e:Vision implementation projects
6. To facilitate efficient use of student data within the College by:
• Supporting production of student data returns to external agencies (e.g. HESA, HEFCE, SFA)
• Responding to scheduled and ad-hoc data requests from internal departments
• Assisting in the development of standardised communications from SITS, including standard letters and email templates
Qualifications
Degree or equivalent – Business Information Systems, Computer Sciences or related qualifications
Hands on knowledge and experience of one or more SITS components – admissions & enrolment, student data analysis, exam & assessment
Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office, including intermediate/advanced Excel
Experience of data management and maintenance in a HE Registry environment
Ability to understand and convey technical and complex information in a clear and effective manner to staff at all levels with varying degrees of skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain good relationships with a range of colleagues, including external contacts as appropriate, to the benefit of all concerned.
Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to plan, prioritise and manage a varied workload to meet deadlines in an efficient and effective manner.
Demonstrable ability to solve problems with flexibility and timeliness.
Willingness to update professional knowledge and commitment to continuous improvement.
Knowledge and experience of working in a Higher Education Registry environment
An ability to understand, explore and document user requirements.
