The Lucasfilm Advanced Development Group (ADG) is looking for an Associate Systems Engineer to join our team.
ADG develops tools and techniques for high-fidelity computer graphics and simulation. Our goal is to expand and enhance creative storytelling in the Star Wars universe through real-time rendering of film-quality imagery. Our work can also be seen powering many of the ILMxLAB immersive experiences.
As an Associate Systems Engineer you will develop, integrate, and maintain core systems that customize the Unreal engine and deploy it for use on several ILMxLAB projects. Your diverse job duties would include the following:
• Develop software to broadcast motion data over a network
• Automate the optimization of dense 3D assets in a content pipeline
• Speed up critical CPU and GPU processing
• Improve our automated build and release software
• Streamline merges of new Unreal versions
• Integrate various consumer and industrial motion tracking systems
• Generalize our software for use across a wide range of platforms
• Develop localization pipelines
• Develop advanced logging and analytics for Virtual Reality (VR)
• Build tools to optimize content and engineering workflows
Requirements:
Required Skills / Competencies:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
• 1+ year’s professional experience as a software engineer, preferably in games
• Passion for VR
• Flexibility to handle a variety of tasks
• Excellent 3D math skills (linear algebra, vector math)
• Solid knowledge of C++
• Self-motivated individual with excellent problem solving skills
• Ability to quickly learn and then implement new techniques
Preferred Skills / Competencies:
• Experience in the Unreal codebase
• Experience with Jenkins
• Experience with Git or Perforce
• Experience with the Steam SDK
• Platform experience on mobile, consoles, Linux, or high-end PC
• Experience programming for VR
