This role resides within global corporate alliances and business development, the group within Blizzard Entertainment responsible for establishing strategic third-party relationships for the company that drive growth through sponsorships, alliances, marketing partnerships, and other forms of partnership, including licensing of Blizzard content to distribution, broadcast and streaming platforms. The manager, sponsorships will support this mission by pitching and negotiating sponsorships for Blizzard esports programs as well as selectively identifying opportunities to explore promotional programs and co-marketing initiatives for Blizzard’s game titles and events with his / her clients.
Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain a thorough list of sponsorship sales targets for each Blizzard esports program.
• Work with the esports, game marketing, and game development teams (as well as in-house custom solutions staff) to create innovative and groundbreaking sponsorship offerings.
• Drive outreach to new potential sponsors through networking and cold-calling.
• Develop and maintain relationships with potential sponsors, becoming familiar with the partners’ businesses and marketing plans.
• Negotiate terms for sponsorships and other supporting partnerships, taking into account sponsorship fees, activation fund, and co-marketing and / or earned media opportunities.
• Generate reports on sponsor program performance for the sponsors as well as within Blizzard.
• Evangelize sponsorship programs internally to all key stakeholders at Blizzard.
• Work with cross functional teams including esports, legal, retail sales, international, and game development as they relate to sponsor programs.
• Facilitate partner communication across Blizzard departments to identify incremental opportunities for partners (i.e., events, field promotions, national publicity, online, etc.).
• Develop and maintain excellent working relationships throughout Blizzard.
Requirements
• A minimum of 6 years’ experience in sponsorship for sports or sports broadcast preferably with a sports league or sports marketing agency
• Experience structuring and contracting sports sponsorships for leagues, teams, or sports broadcast
• Relationships with major corporations and agencies
• Able to evaluate and identify best-in-class partners
• Experience in growing and expanding major pop-culture consumer brands through use of innovative / non-conventional partnership strategies
• Knowledge of video game industry and successful gaming partnerships
• Excellent oral and written communications skills including ability to create and give strong and compelling presentations
• Strong negotiating and influencing skills
