Overwatch League is a global, world-class esports ecosystem designed from the ground up to ensure that teams and players can thrive for years to come, and that their fans have the best experience possible. Overwatch League melds Blizzard’s experience in esports with best practices of time-honored traditional sports. We’ll be launching Overwatch League in 2017.
Overwatch League is seeking an experienced community manager passionate about Overwatch, the first person shooter (FPS) genre, sports and gaming communities, influencer relationships, communications, and social media. This senior contributor role works in close partnership with global marketing to build excitement and relationships on behalf of the franchise. The ideal candidate is driven and self-motivated, a student of brand marketing and communications, and has a proven track record of large-scale community development efforts in the entertainment and sports industry.
Responsibilities
• Create communications (e.g. social posts, blogs) with high levels of quality and timeliness.
• Manage blog content calendars.
• Act as public-facing representative of Overwatch League, and communicate on behalf of the brand across multiple channels and at events.
• Drive the design and execution of community development efforts.
• Manage communications plans and channels, striving for continuous improvement.
• Strategize and execute on reactive communications to players.
• Create engagement opportunities at in-person and online events.
• Analyze and report on content performance data to drive continuous improvement, optimization, and innovation.
• Provide meaningful feedback on the community’s sentiment, concerns, and suggestions.
• Collaborate with global teammates.
• Ensure quality on behalf of the team and brand.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Writing, Marketing, or related field or equivalent work experience
• A minimum of 7 years’ experience with brand communications, writing, forums, and social media
• A minimum of 4 years’ experience with channel management, publishing calendars, and reporting and analytics
• Familiar with project management and process improvement
• Able to travel, including international travel, and work long hours and weekends as needed
Pluses
• Advanced degrees in communications, marketing, or related field
• Project management training and experience
• A passionate gamer possessing ample experience with Blizzard games
• Video publishing and / or graphic arts experience
