Job Description
WTAE-TV, the Hearst-owned ABC affiliate in Pittsburgh, PA is now interviewing for a Weekday News/Traffic Anchor.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as breaking news anchor for Monday- Friday morning newscasts.
• Serve as the morning traffic reporter for Monday- Friday morning newscasts.
• Producing traffic reports using Radiate Media Traffic computer system located in the studio.
• Presenting breaking news and traffic in various studio locations including chroma key.
• Quickly reacting and reporting breaking news and traffic on television and all social media platforms.
• Co-anchor morning show news whenever a regularly-scheduled anchor is off.
• Reporting from the field when warranted.
• Using the TV newsroom computer system to write and type scripts.
• Participating in station-sponsored events both at the station and out in the community.
• Participating in morning editorial meetings.
• Building contacts in the community to help gather exclusive stories.
• Work varied shifts - holidays and weekends included.
• Work long hours particularly during breaking news.
• Deal with the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive newscast production.
Required Skills:
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Required Experience:
• Two years experience in a commercial television newsroom.
