Thrillist is looking for a Production Manager to be a key stakeholder in building our video talent desk. The right candidate will have a strong background in talent scouting and will have proven ability to spot creative video tastemakers and up-and-coming on-camera as well as visual video talent, paired with success in recruiting and signing that talent.
This role will be instrumental in establishing Thrillist as a best-in-class video operation that’s able to simultaneously attract substantial viewership and recognition throughout the digital publishing landscape. You’ll be identifying, vetting, signing, and managing talent in front of the camera, AND building a vast national network of freelance producers and shooters to execute behind the camera on short-, mid-, and long-form video series in the food, drink, and travel spaces.
You should...
• Have an established roster of freelance shooters in your back pocket
• Have industry contacts you can leverage to find on-camera talent for upcoming shows airing on a variety of video platforms
• Have a deep understanding of the Thrillist brand and voice and a strong desire to learn it ever further
• Demonstrate proven success in identifying and signing on-camera hosts, producers, and shooters in digital video and/or TV
• Have an eye for finding the next big thing in up-and-coming on-camera talent
• Be able to create new production workflows to heighten efficiency for recruitment for on-camera hosts as well as for finding shooters, producers and other field production personnel in various cities nationwide
• Be a problem solver with a smile
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with production teams to identify talent for short-form and long-form productions appearing on a variety of video platforms
• Manage the full cycle of discovery and recruitment process while partnering with, and supporting, video, editorial, our in-house ad agency, and social team leaders to capitalize on strategic content and audience initiatives
• Must have a discerning eye in assessing production and hosting talent from reels, in-person casting calls and other recruitment strategies
• Be nimble and find unique ways to recruit, maintain, and sign hosts, producers, and shooters from various cities nationwide
• Track and maintain budgets
• Be familiar with negotiating rates and working with internal legal department to create contracts for third party content creators
Qualifications:
• Requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 4 years’ experience in entertainment or video industry
• Talent Agency and/or casting experience
• Relationships with top agencies and platforms
• Clear understanding of current social video trends
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Must be familiar with DSLR cameras and other field production equipment
