Responsibilities
Job Purpose
The VP, Product will create the product strategy and roadmap for NBC Entertainment Digital products including the nbc.com, the flagship NBC apps on iOS, Android, Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, XBOX, as well as manage product lifecycle from concept to launch for a portfolio of mobile, interactive, second screen, video and publishing products. The VP, Product role will also manage and enforce standards across the Product organization for story writing and product workflow. This role will report to the SVP, Technical Operations and Product.
Essential Responsibilities
Partner with Digital Marketing, Content, and Strategy to identify new market opportunities and evaluate options.
Translate new concepts and existing products into a product strategy and master plan.
Plan, manage and execute on new product development and updates with a focus on innovation, quality and efficiency.
Lead product team with in an agile development methodology, turning concepts into thorough proposals including specific requirements, while still incorporating creativity into the development process.
Partner with Technology and Design teams to assess the feasibility and tactics of products and ensure the quality of all NBC Entertainment products both at launch and over their lifetime, from both consumer-facing and back-end/technology perspectives.
Oversee product concept research (both qualitative and quantitative) through usability testing.
Assess opportunities and develop, engage and maintain partnerships with leading vendors.
Collaborate with Ad Sales to understand feedback from advertisers and their impact on the product roadmap.
Maintain leading knowledge on industry landscape, digital products and development, including an awareness of competitors’ activity.
Develop and utilize evaluation methods to assess NBC products and their success, effectiveness, and impact on the overall objectives of NBC Entertainment Digital
Instrument and utilize analytics to maximize product features and efficiency and drive user engagement and retention
Lead and develop staff, providing direction and identifying development, improvement and engagement opportunities that support and encourage high performance.
Building ongoing growth of knowledge, expertise and experience in the digital area by all members of the team.
Positioning NBC Entertainment Digital as a leader in the field by creating unique and innovative ways to promote and monetize NBC programming through digital initiatives.
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum of 10 years product development experience
Minimum of 5 years experience leading product team

Desired Characteristics:
Shipped one or more high-quality products, that the candidate managed from concept to launch
Shipped one or more mobile products
Experience delivering a product on iOS, Android, Roku, web, Apple TV, etc.
Strategic ability to incorporate existing knowledge and research with long term vision of the digital marketplace and NBC Entertainment’s Digital goals
Strong technical background, with an alacrity for design, marketing, sales, and business development
Able to project themselves into the mind of the customer and colleagues in other disciplines
Experience in Entertainment, particularly television.
Experience with emerging technology and platforms, particularly mobile technology
Extensive experience with analytics tools like Mixpanel, Google Analytics, or similar
Experience with growth marketing initiatives and adjusting products to support growth marketing
Polished with excellent interpersonal, managerial and communication skills
Acute attention to detail and focus on delivering excellence
Ability to work with others across the organization to achieve goals via influence rather than direct authority
Flexibility and an ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
Ability to prioritize and set clear objectives for team
