The Higher Education Division at Pearson Canada is currently recruiting for a Marketing Manager. This position is based in Toronto.
The Marketing Manager is responsible for the outbound marketing activities of key products within assigned disciplines. They’ll conceive and develop innovative marketing programs that drive demand. Based on market insights, they will determine positioning, pricing and messaging for domestic products as well as localize campaigns for Pearson's suite of global platforms and products. They are accountable for managing the implementation of all planned activities within budget and time constraints to achieve an annual divisional revenue target.
The Marketing Manager will be expected to develop a deep understanding of the market including students, instructors, administrators and other key Higher Education stakeholders. They will use this knowledge to help inform product development and translate product value into actionable sales and promotional tools. The Marketing Manager is highly dedicated to driving sales and increasing profits by providing professional sales expertise and training with a focus on digital learning products. They are responsible for advanced level implementation and training for customers, sales representatives and managers.
The Marketing Manager is an expert and accountable for all product specific technologies. They will act as a liaison to maximize relationships between sales, editorial, custom editorial, new media and marketing departments. There is also an operational aspect to this role, working closely with inventory and customer service to ensure inventory levels are adequately forecasted and maintained.
The successful candidate will have a passion for learning, solid leadership skills and a positive outlook.
Qualifications
• Completion of a university degree preferably in business, marketing and/or education
• Experience in progressive marketing management experience including social media strategy, content marketing and product marketing and/or two years’ experience in educational or technology sales.
• Willingness to travel; Ability to work on campus a minimum of three days/week during peak selling season.
• Substantial technical experience or knowledge
• Ability to provide coaching or feedback in a constructive manner
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Exceptional organizational skills, detail-oriented and strong ability to multi-task and work on a cross-functional team
• Adaptable problem-solver and team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work independently
• Able to work on many projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines
• Strong analytical, presentation, and time management skills
• Keen interest in product development and product differentiation.
• Ability to handle a high volume of work in a short period of time, handle multiple priorities simultaneously and operate in a demanding work environment is important.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality is critical to successful performance in this role.
• Prior experience working in the Canadian Higher Education space an asset.
