Job Introduction
The myBBC Participation team is responsible for providing the features that allow our audiences to interact with the BBC, such as Voting and Commenting. Our products span the whole of the BBC and reach millions of users. As such, we need to ensure we provide robust and high performing services to meet the demands we get on a daily basis. Working in Participation is an excellent opportunity to get involved in one of the BBC's biggest online projects, using the latest technologies.

About the Team
Our team is made up of people from a variety of coding backgrounds: from front-end PHP, Java Script to back-end Node, JAVA API engineering. We share a mutual belief in beautiful code that’s test-driven and easy for the next person to pick up.
We’re agile in our development with a multi-disciplinary team of up to 6 engineers working closely with a Product Owner, Business Analyst and Project Manager along with dedicated QA and our colleagues in User Experience & Design.

About the Job
You'll work across the whole stack and a typical day may see you picking up some JavaScript (e.g. Node, Express, Mocha etc.), JAVA or implementing a front-end feature in HTML, PHP along with other numerous languages.
Continuous Integration means you could be deploying to production multiple times a day and even in your first week.
Being involved in the full life cycle of the products, you’ll need to be able to adapt quickly to new or changing requirements, produce rapid prototypes and communicate effectively with the team as a whole, not just other engineers.
As we receive very high traffic, you will be responsible for ensuring the services remain performant and scalable to meet the ever growing demands

Your Skills & Experience
Required:
• Demonstrable experience of engineering projects that you’ve delivered (provide links where possible).
• Strong object-oriented or functional programming skills.
• A team player that helps others to grow and improve.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven experience of leading a team of developers.
Preferred:
• Proficient with JavaScript across the whole stack.
• Experience of deploying production code in a Continuous Integration environment
• Experience with Amazon Web Services and its associated technologies
• Knowledge of working with Git.
