Job Overview
Comcast Ventures is hiring an Associate to the join its West Coast team (San Francisco and Palo Alto offices). The Associate will support CV's Managing Directors and source new deals, evaluate potential investments and work with existing portfolio companies. Core responsibilities will include:
• Identifying and tracking technology trends and market developments
• Conducting market sizing, financial analysis and general quantitative modeling
• Performing due diligence and general transaction processing
• Preparing internal presentations and memorandums
• Networking with entrepreneurs, venture investors and corporate colleagues at Comcast/NBCUniversal
• Traveling and attending industry conferences and portfolio company board meetings/visits
The Associate may focus on sectors such as enterprise software, SaaS, cybersecurity, analytics, and financial services.
Other Responsibilities
• Analyzes and evaluates potential investments, potential acquisitions or divestitures, and other investments as they relate to organization objectives
• Evaluates long-term equity or joint venture investments
• Recommends strategies that will maximize return within acceptable risk parameters
• Ensures investments plans are aligned with business objectives
• Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
• Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
The Individual
The Associate should possess the following attributes:
• Professional work experience of 2 to 4 years that includes a combination of the following: investment banking at a bulge bracket bank, a venture-backed start-up, a publicly traded Bay Area technology company or strategy consulting firm
• Exceptional presentation skills, both in presenting verbally and in the creation of the slides
• Strong quantitative skills with an ability to build and operate Excel models for financial analysis
• An extensive network of peers and former colleagues in the technology industry, primarily in the Bay Area
• Early adopter of most things tech (web, mobile apps, connected devices)
• A very outgoing personality coupled with a high-energy, can-do attitude; this will be a highly variable scheduling environment
• Very diligent task master with strong organizational skills and a tireless appetite to document and track everything
• Great sense of humor and proclivity to teamwork; voracious appetite to learn new things and constantly read; excellent professional judgment and discretion in matters of significance
Education Level: Masters Degree or Equivalent
Years Experience: Generally requires 9+ years related experience
