EA Access: Product Technical Director
I am interested in this position because it’s a senior lead role responsible for the complete architecture of a fast-growing and exciting product that needs to efficiently span multiple platforms, seamlessly integrate into frontline titles and scale to support millions of users.
I have years of experience designing complicated systems that not only support a variety of platforms, but also leverage key languages in the web technologies and C++ space. I’ve worked with game teams which gives me a unique understanding of how they integrate external technologies, their processes and workflows.
I’m a strong leader that’s mentored and grown development teams. I can work with junior engineers to provide a development path for their growth, working with them to take advantage of strengths and showing them how to improve in other areas. I can equally work well with senior engineers to bring out their best talent to build stronger teams.
What I bring:
• 3+ years’ experience architecting large complex designs that span multiple platforms and technologies
• Experience designing Single Page Application (SPA) systems from backend CMS repositories to hosting environments that render content dynamically
• Advanced Web development experience with a focus on JavaScript programming
• A computer science degree or equivalent experience in the field
What I might have:
• Experience with JS frameworks like Polymer, React and Angular
• Game team experience, especially with regards to SDK integration and support
• Experience developing PS4 and Xbox One hub applications
• Mobile (both responsive and native iOS/Android) development experience
• C++ development experience building libraries and/or SPA container applications
My skills are:
• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable systems
• Leadership skills, able to motivate a team and drive best practices
• Strong mentorship and the experience to grow engineers
• Excellent planning and communication skills
• Strong critical thinking and problem solving abilities
What does the EAX team do?
EAX is a high performing team within EA that manages several digital distribution and subscription products including EA Access. Access allows users to purchase subscriptions and games on PC and console platforms. Users can stay connected to everything Access, take their pick of all the great games in ‘The Vault’ and play as much as they want for a low monthly, and even lower annual, subscription fee. In addition, they can put upcoming EA games to the test before the release date with exclusive Play First Trials.
