Based in Denver, Colorado, Sign Language XL is one of the leading digital printing companies in the world delivering vibrant color and brilliant images on any scale and at virtually any substrate. Sign Language XL’s advanced fleet of VUTEk digital printers produce outstanding customized signage solutions for outdoor advertising, sponsor activation, retail and event graphics. The company also offers clients artwork and design capabilities and installation services.
The Director of Operations’ is responsible and accountability for all operational activities for Sign Language XL to include: management of print production, finishing, shipping, installation and art departments. The Director of Operations ensures that assigned team(s) is(are) meeting or exceeding customer service standards for contract and commercial customers.
Essential Duties: Essential duties are those basic duties that must be performed to carry out the purpose of the job.
Customer Service and Sales
1. Direct operations team on their execution of production center workflow & quality assurance process
2. Partner with executive leadership to identify opportunities, develop solutions and implement programs to improve margin performance
3. Serve as product & service expert to sales team using knowledge of the industry, leadership experience, and tools and resources available
4. Own overall plan to ensure all orders are done on time, correctly, the first time while exceeding customer expectations
5. Responsible to work with organization on problem resolution to maintain highest levels of customer satisfaction
6. Review team responsibilities to ensure they are being done on time and to standard including quarterly reviews of employees
Operations
1. Oversee operations and production management and staff
2. Ensure the facility is clean and organized, and safety precautions are followed
3. Improve operation efficiencies and service levels throughout organization
4. Ensure that all required processes and procedures are being executed on time
5. Responsible for effective scheduling of labor and payroll to achieve budget
6. Manage all press equipment effectively and maintain performance and quality levels
Financial Management
1. Use resources available and/or recommend production center P&L improvements in order to grow and maximize margins
2. Align with executive leadership to set plan and manage P&L and departmental budgets
Human Resources
1. Overall responsibility of operations and personnel. Proactively improving performance issues and maximizing resources.
2. Set and maintain the highest standards regarding operational execution. Address issues and take corrective action promptly with a focus on standard operating procedures.
3. Facilitate any required training curriculum
Minimum Qualifications:
1. A minimum education level of a Bachelor of Arts/Sciences Degree (4-year) in Business, Finance, or related area
2. 7 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment. Digital print experience preferred
3. Experience in multiple silos within the print industry preferred, i.e. POP/V&E/OOH
4. Strong problem solving and project management skills
5. High energy and self-motivated
6. Leadership skills to develop a service & quality culture within production
7. Ability to motivate and manage a staff to drive sales and margin performance
8. Ability to analyze the P&L and identify opportunities to drive profitability
9. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
10. Ability to use and understand industry equipment and demonstrate its use
11. Ability to optimize technology including industry specific software, workflow management and online ordering systems
