Position: Senior Director, Industry Strategy and Business Development for Product Design and Manufacturing (San Francisco)

Role/Purpose:
This senior leader will define and drive the global business and industry strategy for Autodesk’s manufacturing segments as well as the associated go to market strategy including offering definition, pricing, packaging and partnerships. This role is a critical member of the leadership team building Autodesk’s product design and manufacturing business into a multi-billion dollar business.
This position is responsible for driving the Product Design and Manufacturing cloud business and industry strategy as well as business strategy for all manufacturing term offerings. This includes identifying target segments, personas, priority business problems we will address for each target segment, defining key sales plays, executing adoption initiatives and retention strategies. This position will also manage the business and industry strategy for Autodesk’s Forge cloud platform for manufacturing.
In addition, this senior leader is responsible for defining and driving Autodesk’s global industry business development strategy in focus countries and for defining and driving Autodesk’s global Product Design and Manufacturing thought leadership platform.
From a business performance perspective, this position is responsible for the assessment and analysis of the business each quarter and delivering Quarterly Business Reviews to executive management. This will be done in collaboration with the product organization and sales organization.
This leader is responsible for creating and communicating an inspirational, credible, and differentiated product design and manufacturing story for customers, industry analysts, employees, and partners.
This position will work closely with the product team, sales organization and channel partners to ensure alignment and execution to the business and industry strategy.
The candidate will be regarded as an evangelist for the product design & manufacturing business at Autodesk both inside and outside the organization.
The candidate needs to be an excellent communicator who thinks strategically, writes concisely, speaks easily to large and small groups and is a coalition builder. He/she must have the appropriate diplomatic skills to work across a matrixed-organization and who can easily defend positions from a data perspective and mediate opposing views while working collaboratively with cross functional teams across Autodesk.
Responsibilities
Strategy and Business Development
• Defines the three year vision and strategy for Product Design and Manufacturing and develops the business plan to execute on strategy
• Identifies technology opportunities, dependencies, gaps and risks
• Works with key organizations for aligned business models and channel models and drives go to market plans
• Works with product teams to clearly communicate priority solution workflows and product enhancements.
• Maintains current industry and competitive knowledge of the cloud, mobile, social and SaaS market space..
• Provides positioning for all markets, buyers, and target personas.
• Influences global pricing analysis and pricing recommendations for all offers that will be introduced into the market via new and existing business models.
• Creates the business case to drive alternative channels, partnerships, mergers & acquisitions.
• Identifies and drives partnerships and potential acquisitions to support the strategic plan.
• Monitors business performance for the portfolio, documents and report on product billings, adoption, customer acquisition and retention and develops corrective action plans
• Maintains close customer relationships to effectively represent the voice of the customer with respect to offer price, package, position and business models
Build Collaborative Relationships Internally
• Maintains close customer relationships to effectively represent the voice of the customer with respect to offer price, package, position and business models.
• Serves as main internal point of contact for and builds strong internal partnerships with Product Leaders and Sales/Channel teams.
• Works with product and sales team as point of contact for business and industry strategy and go to market specifics.
Be the voice of Autodesk Externally
• Provide Industry leadership, developing and evangelizing the vision and plans for Product Design and Manufacturing.
• Engage customers and the industry as a whole through engagements such as customer councils, executive briefings, industry events, media support
• Identify and build critical relationships with third party vendors
Job Specifications
• Mechanical engineering undergraduate 4 year degree, MBA may be an advantage.
• Experience or solid knowledge of manufacturing production processes a plus. (subtractive and additive)
• Knowledge of cloud and SaaS technology and business landscape.
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills and proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
• Skilled story teller to inspire and motivate organization
• Passion for technology and knowledge of software, IT and technology trends, including a strong interest in machine learning and additive manufacturing.
• Strong business fundamentals and a background in solving complex customer problems.
• Exceptional customer/market research, analytical, conceptual, and problem solving skills.
• Skilled diplomat with proven conflict-resolution skills, high level of confidence and maturity with solid experience working across large corporations in a matrixed environment.
• Proven ability to influence within a geographically dispersed global organization to build consensus within and outside of the organization at executive levels to garner support for business objectives.
• Awareness and understanding of the nuances of diverse and different cultures.
• Excellent interpersonal skills required in order to build strong relationships, particularly with sales, field and product organizations and partners, and an ability to be highly successful in a matrix management organization.
