Overview:
Highly creative and motivated self-starter with a passion for design. This person must have the ability to thrive in a fast paced, demanding environment and not be afraid to “get their hands dirty” while managing larger projects. In conjunction with SVP Brand Marketing, the Design Director will be responsible for the overall “look and feel” of the IFC brand across all platforms. This ranges from On/Off Air Graphics, Key Art, Digital Marketing Creative, Ad Sales fulfillment, Events, and anything else that falls under the Brand Marketing purview. This person will leverage in house talent as well as identify and manage outside design agencies. He/She will be a key member of the team helping develop the positioning, messaging, and the ongoing visual interpretation and voice of the brand.
Responsibilities:
• Conceptualize and design On-Air/Off-Air launch & post launch creative
• Consult on Agency Print and Out-of-Home Campaigns
• Consult and help guide network show packages
• Ensure visual consistency of the brand across all platforms
• Ideate and design network premiums and collateral
• Adhere to production schedules
• Adhere to strict client deadlines
• Serve as visual keeper of the brand with any manner of design
• Interface with outside vendors when needed
• Mentor/Art Direct temp designers or contractors
• Deliver proper digital files according to requirement
Qualifications:
Management Skills
◦ Ability to adhere to production schedules and meet clients’ deadlines
◦ Strong communication skills
◦ High energy and real passion for design
◦ Ability to mentor temp designer(s) and contractors
◦ Adept with branding and marketing
◦ Able to work independently but also be collaboration-oriented
◦ Able to multi-task and handle several projects simultaneously
Technical/Functional Competencies
◦ Expert knowledge of current software CS3, After Effect, Illustrator
◦ Knowledge of digital software, Flash A+
◦ Knowledge of print production
◦ Expert knowledge of post-production file prep for broadcast
◦ Knowledge of photo retouching
Key Experiences/Achievements
◦ College degree preferred
◦ A minimum of 7 years’ experience working in design/broadcast industry
◦ Demonstrated experience with all required software and equipment
