Mgr DC Network Services, Global Infrastructure Shared Svcs
The DC Network Services Manager, as part of Global Server Engineering, will lead a service with global accountability for the design and engineering of technology services covering the Data Center Network infrastructure for GISS – Global Infrastructure Shared Services. He/she is an experienced IT professional who will support a complex, multi-national business enterprise.
He/She will provide strategic and tactical leadership for engineering, implementation and operation of Global DC Network services (Router, Switch, Firewall, facility, DR) technology, and must have the ability to define and lead IT responses to changing marketplace situations and changing business conditions. He/She will work closely with members of management including senior business management to design, develop, and implement DC Networking strategies to improve GISS global capability and availability. Primary responsibilities are managing a number of 3rd party outsourcing contracts responsible for the day-to-day operations, design and implementation of GISS Global DC Network infrastructure.
This position requires a strong emphasis on operations management and project management, as well as building and maintaining a positive business relationship with clients and vendors. The responsibilities outlined below must be performed with a minimum amount of supervision.
Core Responsibilities:
1) Management Oversight – 40% Lead DC Network services, 3rd party operations management, budget responsibility, and strategic/technology planning for the DC Network platform.
The GlSS DC Network Manager will oversee 3rd party staff including orientation, training, performance management, counseling/mentoring, and corrective action as needed.
He/She will work with and assists other GlSS Infrastructure Management and Team members in the execution of tasks in order to meet corporate objectives and project time lines. Oversees the global DC Network infrastructure hardware, software, performance and maintenance to ensure the infrastructure supports company and IT requirements through 3rd party routine maintenance and the identification and escalation of risk. Assists, recommend and review new Data Center Network technology with GISS Senior Management Team. Reviews 3rd party data to provide reporting/performance metrics, capacity for all data center platforms.
Business as Usual (BAU) responsibilities include but are not limited to: Customer Provisioning, Customer Management, Incident Management, SOX Compliance, Vendor Management, Monthly Security Patching and SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) Documentation Review.
Project activities include items such as router, switch and firewall changes and assist with troubleshooting/missed dates/escalations. Review EOL equipment, assist with design and manage process, code issues and maintenance contracts. Work with customers and vendors to prepare design and project plans for new requests (facility, infrastructure, network, security).
He/She will provide details and work with Corporate Legal, Procurement and Financial Controllers on HW and SW renewals and licensing related to the network platforms.
Responsible for the coordination of DC network components for the IT budget and annual plan including recurring upgrades.
Responsible for the development of effective working relationships with clients, vendors and other IT Departments.
Performs other related duties as assigned by GISS management inclusive of daily, weekly, monthly and customer/project meetings.
2) Project Management - 40%
Develops all project plans, budgets, staffing and tools/architectures for new projects. Ensure the quality, accuracy and timelines of project deliverables. Responsible for staff adherence and competency in DC Network infrastructure standards and guidelines. Performs the selection/management of outside consultants hired for the project. Communicate project issues and status on a regular basis to project team members and Sr. Management. Reviews of Key/High Risk Projects, Post Implementation and “lessons learned” with team members and Sr. Management.
3) Operational Process – 20%
Insures clear operational level support processes and escalation procedures for the DC Network infrastructure team. Communicate and update Command Center and Incident, Change and Problem management teams for support and escalation process modifications.
Requirements
• A Bachelors degree preferred or equivalent work experience
• 8-10 years in managing and leading a team in administering network technologies, preferably with Cisco and other 3rd party network products and virtualization technologies.
• Must be able to review, analyze and recommend opportunities to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness of Intel based systems.
Expert knowledge of the following technologies:
• Data Network -- Carrier Services(MAN, WAN) Routers, Switches (LAN, MAN, WAN), Internet Access(Firewalls, Proxy Services), Wireless Access
• Data Network Services -- DNS, DHCP, NTP, B2B, VPN
• All Cisco platforms, including Nexus and Catalyst platforms
• Experience with routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, MPLS
• F5 Big-IP technology
• Firewall platforms, including Checkpoint and JuniperSecurity implementations – IPS, IDS, log collections, patch management
Skilled in:
• Server integration with all critical Network functions, including Layer 2/3 routing, load balancing and firewall integration
• Facility management, including power, rack and space oversight of co-located Tier 3 Data Centers
• Disaster Recovery solutions with regards to Network (WAN,LAN) support
• Cisco UCS FI and MDS switch technologies is a plus
• Network Certifications are a plus
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong organizational and planning skills including the setting of priorities and aligning performance for success
• Ability to build excellent working relationships by applying effective people management skills
• Excellent Leadership skills resulting in the building of a successful team. Developing others through coaching, mentoring and training.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities
