Job Summary:
Manages Accounts Payable, includes Customer Vendor relations, and the AP disbursement group which handles all check disbursements, 1099 and tax related matters for an ERP system. Responsible for ensuring all invoices for assigned area are paid within specified timeframes by delegating and performing accounts payable duties. Manager oversees day to day operation on a high volume accounts payable operation. Develops, implements procedures and policies, including accounts payable functions to ensure adherence to company guidelines. Maximize team performance by keeping metrics as key indicator.
• Ensure verification of A/P transactions, i.e. correct coding of vendor and invoice amount.
• Manage internal audits involving review of accounts payable.
• Set, manage and monitor metrics for the accounts payable area.
• Establish controls for financial systems and develop procedures to improve existing systems.
• Develop and maintain vendor relationships. Answer vendor inquiries when necessary.
• Ensure timely and appropriate communication with vendors by accounts payable teams.
• Manage teams as a resource to vendors and employees, including problem resolution and training of in-house processors.
• Direct and manage department’s personnel administration activities including job assignment, training & development, performance evaluation, compensation review, and providing guidance and direction in accordance with overall department strategy.
• Addresses performance issues and makes recommendations for personnel actions.
• Conduct end of month closings. Prepare analysis of accounts when necessary.
• Develops and implements policies and procedures
• Develops processes to improve efficiency
• Develops metrics to measure performance
• Monitors spending for adherence to budget, recommends variances as necessary
• Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field preferred
• Five or more years of accounting experience
• Five or more years of leadership experience
• Experience working with accounting software
• Must have large ERP AP system experience
• Strong personal computer and business solutions software skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Good planning and organization skills to balance and prioritize work
• Good communication skills for communicating with staff, customers, vendors and upper management
• Proficient Excel user
