The Sun Sentinel is seeking a versatile community manager for SouthFlorida.com, its award winning entertainment website, which covers the dynamic area from Miami through Fort Lauderdale to West Palm Beach.
This is a job for a creative and collaborative entertainment journalist with strong digital skills. This person will work with writers and editors to develop and execute content strategies focusing on dining and nightlife, music, art, theater and going out in South Florida. The ideal candidate will be a reporter and writer as much as a web producer, someone who can plan and carry out initiatives.
Social media will be a primary focus in this role. Beyond promoting SouthFlorida.com content, this job requires innovative use of social media to create content and build traffic and brand.
This individual also will work closely with our video team and reporters to coordinate and develop SouthFlorida.com video efforts. An ability to shoot and edit video is not required but would be an asset.
Intense attention to details is essential: accuracy in all contexts, excellent SEO knowledge, a way with strong online headlines and captions and compelling social posts.
Responsibilities:
The job entails:
• Managing content on SouthFlorida.com to grow traffic
• Managing social media accounts to expand reach; push notifications
• Coordinating video production with goal of increasing views
• Creating content of all kinds, from writing briefs and stories, to building photo galleries and shooting Facebook Live videos
• Planning for weekly and large-scale events coverage
• Developing ideas for photo galleries, guides and useful content
• Supervising the events database
• Curating weekly newsletters
• Being an expert in all content management systems and social platforms
Qualifications:
We are looking for an inspired and inspiring creative thinker who likes to jump on a good idea and run with it. Candidates need to be at ease working one-on-one with reporters and editors to improve online content, as well as take the initiative to spot trends and encourage others to respond quickly.
This community manager also will serve on occasion as back-up for home page producers, posting breaking news and sending push notifications. Weekend and holiday shifts may be required.
Minimum of bachelor’s degree and three years experience.
