Role Summary
The Senior Financial Analyst will support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end Close and provide analytical support to the HMH Professional Services team. Using data from various information systems, the Senior Financial Analyst will identify and communicate trends and variances in bookings, billings, net sales, cost of sales, operating expenses and capital expenses.
Primary Accountabilities
Support Month-End, Quarter-End, and Year-End Close
• Responsible for performing the day- to-day general ledger accounting
• Prepare Journal Entries
• Research and resolve Cost Center(s) inquiries
Provide Monthly Financial Reporting
• Prepare and maintain P&L and Expense reports
• Research and prepare variance and cost analyses
Support the budget, forecasting and long-range planning processes
Support the VP of Finance on ad hoc projects and analyses
Education Level, Experience Skills Required
• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
• 4 years experience in an analyst role
• Highly self-motivated, with a team focused attitude
• Strong communication and listening skills
• Functional understanding of financial and operational business processes and reporting
• Ability to apply critical thinking to understand financial issues and downstream impacts of those issues
• Advanced knowledge Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn complex financial and information systems
• Experience integrating and analyzing large datasets
Preferred:
• Master's Degree (MBA, Finance, or Accounting)
• Experience with SAP ERP, SAP HANA, SAP BW, SAP BPC, Salesforce and Microstrategies
Physical Requirements:
• Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing).
• The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
• Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings.
