Position Summary
Pearson UK has a large product portfolio including qualifications .and resources. The business requires a central point person to support pricing of qualifications and digital platforms for the business. This role will involve working closely with business leaders to ensure Pearson maximises its revenues whilst taking account of other factors such as risks and competitor pricing. The position will also involve ensuring that the process of updating prices from a commercial respects is fully aligned with operational delivery and so work closely with colleagues to make sure customers are invoiced correctly.
The BI team supports reporting and data analytics for Pearson’s UK business. The team plays a key role in delivering a wide range of analytical support including operational data commercial analysis and reporting and learner data analytics. All the BI team engage in data extraction and the servicing of day to day data needs across the business. In addition the team supports and builds dashboards off our own data cube to deliver high quality and robust analysis. The range of analytics is considerable including commercial and market data, operational data and learner data. Hence the role provides an unrivalled opportunity to develop a broad based experience.
Pearson UK has not historically been a data driven company and this team has helped shift the business to a new standard of analysis and reporting. This means that all members of the team have to be proactive and motivated to unpack complex problems or requirements to deliver outstanding analysis.
In addition Pearson is rolling out a new CRM (salesforce) and Oracle reporting tools to underpin global reporting. The UK specific data requirements need to reconcile and be aligned to these developments and initiatives.
The pricing and analysis manager will work closely with this team
Key Role-Specific Deliverables:
• Be the expert “ go to” person on pricing questions relating to qualifications and digital platforms
• Master the current product portfolio and consider opportunities to improve pricing
• Work closely with relevant stakeholders, especially product management, to develop pricing strategy for current or future product portfolios
• Analytical thought leader who can help shape new pricing idea
• Master a complex brief of inter related data requirements and quickly gain a deep understanding of the business
• Work closely with operations and the BI team to make sure pricing information is reported correctly and process are aligned with pricing strategy
• Understand the regulatory environment and assess risk where relevant to pricing strategy
• Work closely with colleagues to support thinking on new business models or bundling
• Ensure reporting on pricing is accurate and relevant
• Monito trends on prices and revenues
• Build competitor intelligence on pricing for the UK market and our international qualifications business
• Work closely with the BI team to support analytical thinking and reporting where relevant
• Provide analytical support for commercial strategy to elevate data analytics in the BI team to be more attuned to business requirements
• Undertake an annual price review with recommendations for inflation linked price increases
