Summary
Reporting to the Procurement Director, the Procurement Manager is responsible for managing a team of buyers and guide them towards becoming trusted business partners. Additionally, the Procurement Manager is responsible for defining negotiation strategies, sourcing direct/indirect good & services, improving vendor performance and managing customer relationships.
Responsibilities
• Manage a team of buyers;
• Coach and develop team members to create a high performing team;
• Carry out monthly follow ups on departmental objectives;
• Coordinate work team efforts by following up on current request and projects;
• Lead the procurement team in the implementation and management of new processes and policies;
• Help establish negotiation strategies and support the buyers;
• Take part in contract term and price negotiations with strategic suppliers;
• Negotiate, recommend, implement and follow up on production, IT and general services contracts;
• Track and report key functional metrics to optimize spends and improve effectiveness;
• Establish and maintain relationships with key functional leaders to align priorities and proactively identify opportunities to bring value to their initiatives;
• Establish reporting that delivers data on the performance of the procurement team and follow up on action items;
• Develop, nurture and maintain strong relationships with both inside customers and suppliers;
• Play an active role in budget planning;
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering or equivalent;
• 7 to 10 years of experience in procurement and strategic sourcing
• Minimum 3 years of experience in team management / leadership role
• Strong negotiation skills
• Excellent presentation skills
• Demonstrate strong communication skills on both written and oral communication. The role requires but not limited to presentations to senior management, writing communications to suppliers as well as contract summaries
• Excellent Contract knowledge and understanding of legal terms and conditions
• Excellent analytical skills and problem solving skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
• Strong customer service focus and results oriented
• Bilingual (French/English)
• Professional Certification (asset)
