Overview and Responsibilities
This critical position is part of an established Business Intelligence team. As a Business Intelligence Analyst, you will be focused on delivering critical reporting and data analysis for our core business groups. This is an opportunity to leverage your passion for analytics and business intelligence to add considerable business impact through delivery of critical BI solutions. You will need to be comfortable in a wide range of settings from presenting to senior leaders to coaching a non-technical audience. You will work with diverse stakeholders across Finance, Marketing, Operations, Sales, and Engineering teams.
Responsibilities to include, but not limited to:
• Take an active role in the system development lifecycle, including analysis, design, implementation and support
• Provides direct technical support for the full systems development life-cycle (SDLC) of the Enterprise Data Warehouse
• Assists Exec Director of Business Intelligence in establishing project plans, work breakdown structures, milestones, deliverables and risk assessments
• Evangelize and increase adaption of the BI solutions in the user community by demonstrating and continuously training the subject matter experts in the user community
• Document business processes and workflows, and analyzing how Business Intelligence solutions can be delivered to support those processes and workflows
• Perform ad hoc analysis and reporting in response to requests from end users.
• Create user documentation and deliver end user training
• Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelors degree in Information Technology or equivalent work experience
• Minimum 3 years IT experience
• Hands-on experience with the modern Business Intelligence, ETL and data warehousing technologies
• Good grasp of Agile and Waterfall project management approaches
Additional Qualifications
• Comfortable working in a technical environment – the right candidate should be able to write and read code
• Experience with scripting (Shell, Python, Ruby or Perl) is highly desirable
• Strong understanding of the traditional RDBMS environments like Oracle and MSSQL, and Hadoop based SQL environments like Spark and Hive
• Good knowledge of BI reporting tools like Tableau or Cognos or Microstrategy
• Experience in building Cloud based solutions in AWS
• Strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently, and deliver high quality analysis after thoroughly verifying the results through a repeatable series of steps
• Ability to do root cause analysis utilizing their own tribal knowledge as well as the expertise of the team members
• Strong organizational skills including an ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, establish priorities, exercise good judgment, meet deadlines, and ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner
• Ability to function collaboratively as part of a fast-paced, customer oriented team, perform effectively as an independent producer under broad management direction, and a demonstrated willingness to support the team on all levels to get the job done
• Superior communication skills in working with technical and non-technical users and the ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships among all levels of an organization
• Commitment to maintaining a high degree of customer satisfaction through the implementation, investigation, analysis, training and relationship building efforts
• Ability for maintaining a depth of expertise in data understanding, data mining, business processes and technical domains.
