Overview and Responsibilities
This position will be responsible for developing the strategy and implementing service transition and release management systems, processes, controls, and best practices across the Enterprise.
Responsibilities to include, but not limited to:
• Ensure 24x7x365 processing accuracy and availability of multi-site data center for the Viacom MTS organization including enterprise applications, web sites, and content distribution systems
• Interface with a variety of groups to develop effective and consistent transition of services to operational state
• Build and maintain a framework for collaboration and transition between Development and Operational state
• Assist in day to day infrastructure operation services
• Manages version control, release packaging and deployment for the Viacom MTS organization to ensure proper procedures are followed for deploying changes into the MTS production environment
• Develop and participate in release management and continuous delivery processes to minimize operational risk and maximize issue resolution expediency
• Lead the effort to standardize environments to provide for fast and reliable deployment cycles
• Liaises with development teams, infrastructure, security and operations to improve the reliability, security and efficiency of service delivery and release management processes
• Work with various system owners to identify automations and integrations to support more dynamic service delivery and release management processes
• Identifies and promotes collaboration and synergies between service delivery teams
• Develops strategy, a framework and plans and provides oversight and management of Viacom MTS service transition and release management
• Focus on continual process improvements
• Develops standards, controls and processes for service transition and release management, and ensures the establishment and maintenance of standard operating procedures and run books
• Assists with managing project capital, departmental budgets, and contracts related to day to day activities
• Participates in budget planning for the area and accountable for managing to established budgets, including reallocating funding as priorities shift
• Assist in improving operations quality and developing standard reporting and escalation procedures for the various teams
• Assist in managing ongoing escalations from internal teams as requiredActs as project manager of MTS projects by preparing project plans, interacting with other departments and guiding MTS resources
• Accountable for day-to-day activities associated with service transition and provides leadership to staff
• Develops staffing plans, assigns personnel to various duties and directs their activities, reviews and evaluates their work, and prepares performance reports
• Confers with and advises subordinates, peers and MTS leadership on technical and operational policy, procedures, problems, priorities, and methods
• Partners with and integrates across other areas of MTS, working with other areas, resolving conflicts and managing competing priorities, to provide a complete solution
• Manages vendors that provide outsourced support
• Actively involved in developing strategy, reviewing the design, and structuring of the framework to provide services
• Performs special projects and other duties as assigned
• Works under general direction from senior MTS management
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field or equivalent work experience
• Minimum 8 years experience delivering support services for large, global, complex and heterogeneous systems and networks
• Minimum 3 years experience designing and delivering release management services for a large, global IT support organization preferably in a development operations role
• Minimum 2 years experience managing and supervising operational support staff
• Minimum 2 years experience with exposure to rapid delivery cycles/supporting agile development
Additional Qualifications
• Experience providing service transition and release management support services for an IT infrastructure consisting of large, complex and heterogeneous systems and network installations on an International scale
• Experience delivering IT services in the Media and Entertainment industry
• Experience working with agile methods
• Experience with continuous delivery toolsets and framework
• Knowledge of fast development cycles in a web hosting environment
• Experience delivering services via cloud infrastructure
• Experience working with ITSM toolsets, and Service-Now
• Experience managing IT support and delivery teams
• Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be capable of writing proposals or papers, acting as a vendor liaison, making presentations to customers, client audiences or professional peers
• Must be capable of working closely with all levels of management to develop and deliver services
• Must have excellent planning and coordination skills
• Must have excellent leadership skills
