The Head of ILM Studio is responsible for setting and leading the business strategy for ILM as the cutting edge visual effects house in the entertainment industry; differentiating ILM in the VFX market place and solidifying ILM’s reputation as a trusted partner for end-to-end production needs, and lands work that that pushes the creative barriers while balancing the overall portfolio of shows and managing to the annual operating plan
• Set the vision and direction for ILM that ensures we are the leading creative and technical innovators of the visual effects industry.
• Executes the global strategic business plan to ensure a long term stability and profitability
• Collaborates with Lucasfilm GM to set and manage global annual operating budget consistent with the global strategic business plan.
• Partner with clients to develop trusted relationships and provide high level production oversight.
• Leverages strong connections in the film industry and fosters relationships with Directors, Producers, Studio Executives and Industry Creatives to market ILM’s capabilities in Pre-Production, Concept and Art Direction, Visual Effects and the Virtual Reality space.
• Differentiate ILM in the VFX market place as a production partner with unique creative capabilities.
• Positions ILM as the cutting edge visual effects house in the entertainment industry; solidifying ILM’s reputation as a trusted partner for end-to-end production needs.
• Proactively seeks and lands work that aligns with ILM’s goal of break-through technical and creative innovation.
• In partnership with key creative (s), evaluate each film and strategize on technical and creative approaches to each bid. Present each bid in collaboration with appropriate ILM team members.
• Oversee and direct public relations initiatives ensuring they align with ILM’s business and marketing goals
• Oversees ILM portfolio of shows; partners with EIC, Global Studio and EIC, Finance on review and approval of all bids and on establishing revenue stake and MUTBE for AOP and forecasts.
• Develop and manage relationships within Lucasfilm, ILM, and The Walt Disney Company executives to ensure close collaboration, partnership, support, and efficient operations.
• Provides leadership and mentorship to ILM leadership team across the global studios.
• Create a world-class environment to attract the best talent pool in the global visual effects, animation, and technology community.
• Acts as company spokesperson, both internally and externally, to represent the company's position on a wide variety of entertainment pursuits.
• Demonstrates thorough up-to-date knowledge of the VFX business and trends.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in business or computer graphics or equivalent; MBA preferred.
• Position requires a minimum of ten (10) years of related experience with at least four of those as a production executive and/or facility management with strong understanding of business financials.
• Demonstrated experience and measurable success in production and /or visual effects/ animation within the entertainment industry.
• Previous experience as a client side and service provider-side VFX Producer desired.
• A strong leader with a proven ability to influence and motivate others at the executive and staff levels while being a team player and consensus builder.
• Ability to communicate conceptual and strategic thinking / plans with executives across multiple business units and able to deliver the company’s direction and objectives to a creative staff.
• An entrepreneurial business experience background is desirable, success in small business growth and general management expertise is essential.
• Proven ability to manage change, and multi-task with parallel or overlapping businesses and/or products.
• Must exhibit an affinity for entertainment and possess a strong sense of aesthetics applicable to producing high quality entertainment products.
• High achievement in hiring and leading creative talent in a fast paced production environment required. Must have successfully developed and managed people, resources and schedules with a world renowned animation and/or entertainment company.
• Must have extensive knowledge of production, operations, services and financials.
• Demonstrate exceptional organization, communication and management skills.
• Demonstrate an ability to handle multiple demands, be flexible, maintain professionalism, and display finesse in a creative environment.
• Must be self-directed, detail oriented, problem solver with a desire to build a uniquely creative environment.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed on an ongoing basis.
