This position is responsible for detailed technical design, development and maintenance of applications for the WWTV and Digital Licensing businesses using existing and emerging technology platforms.
• Support the end-to-end licensing lifecycle for the WWTV and Digital distribution groups with multiple touch points to studio wide applications.
• Acts as key resource for the WWTV and Digital systems supporting the business area, ensuring the systems are performing up to requirements – key system is PRISM, an Oracle IP management package
• Supports functional requirements gathering and translation into technical designs / solutions for the WWTV and Digital licensing business. Business functions covered include Rights Management, Sales & Availability Reporting, Deal Management and Accounting (Invoicing, Cash, GL Postings)
• This role is seen by the business users as the key point of contact within IT and must manage business expectations and ensure prompt and complete customer service
• Understands how the organization is structured and how the current and future technology will support and affect the business
• Understands changing business needs for supported area and recommends strategies for the future
• Interfaces with business analysts, project manager, and/or business users to define requirements
• Interfaces with other Paramount IT system owners on integration efforts with other company systems
• Performs coding and/or configuration to meet documented needs, utilizing standard procedures and techniques
• Coordinates with offshore support resources to see that the requirements are fulfilled, providing work direction and guidance
• Forms productive relationships with internal and external customers and the vendor community
• Assists in production support issue prioritization and resolution
• Facilitates troubleshooting on applications with high level of complexity (e.g. many interfaces, multiple packages, and platforms)
• Manages PRISM application upgrade and patch deployment process
• When provided with an objective to improve application performance or functionality, develops and implements action plans needed to effect the change
• Conducts technical assessments of team and provides feedback on performance as necessary
• Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of leading edge technologies and contributes to plans for the future of a technology and/or applications area.
• Directs and leads the planning for systems implementation and future application releases
• Conducts and provides work estimates
• Able to produce complete projects plans and clearly communicate status to management
• Functions independently with limited work direction
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelors of Computer Science or equivalent
• 10+ years of experience in related position/system
• Prior technical experience with:
◦ Database Modeling Tools – ERWIN, Power Designer or other
◦ Oracle – PL/SQL
◦ MS SQL Server – Transact-SQL
◦ Informatica / EAI Integration Tools
◦ Unix shell scripts and processes
Additional Qualifications
• Demonstrated problem solving skills, as well as continuous process improvement skills
• Demonstrated strong analytical skills
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of staff, vendor and other IT personnel
• Ability to work independently and to prioritize tasks effectively
• Knowledge and working experience in TV Distribution is preferred
• Strong Database design and analysis skills
• Strong understanding of software development life cycle and one or more software development methodologies RUP, RAD
• Timely status and communication of risks and issues to the project manager
