Major Purpose
Based out of MLB's London office, the Manager, International Consumer Products is the primary contact for our business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. This position is responsible for generating significant revenue in the region while overseeing day-to-day licensing operations of our London office.
Major Responsibilities
• Develop and implement strategic business plans in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa for a product portfolio featuring Apparel, Headwear, Accessories, Collectibles, Sporting Goods and Novelty accounts on an annual basis. Manage 20-30 client accounts and follow through on all daily tasks associated with these accounts
• Negotiate terms for amendments and renewals. Research, identify and analyze potential business partners in undeveloped categories, and prepare new business proposals. Work with Senior Director to process contracts and LOI’s for new business applications
• Create and maintain system to track licensee royalty reports, accounts payable/receivable, volume estimates, revenue projections and budget spending
• Provide regular quantitative and qualitative analyses of the business by category. Create and maintain database and presentations for completed programs and products
• Track and generate regular reports to highlight contract administration issues or non-payment issues with our Legal and Finance departments. Work with local customs authorities to expedite licensee shipments, and assist in the protection of trademarks and property rights throughout EMEA
• Collaborate with Senior Director and MLB’s Quality Control department to review all EMEA-related product and advertising submissions
• Develop and execute customized promotions, merchandising programs including POS, client hospitality events, and special retail initiatives to support and grow key product categories. Oversee and track retail marketing and product credit budgets in EMEA
• Integrate all components of the MLB International business to maximize/promote retail sales, brand exposure, market development, and broadcast and sponsorship partners
• Manage special event licensing, concessions and on-field/clubhouse operations for any World Baseball Classic, Opening Series or All-Star Series games that take place in the region
• Identify and pursue opportunities to increase MLB's brand presence in the region through retail promotions, advertising programs, and events.
Qualifications
• You have a bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of direct experience in consumer products and brand management and a strong track record of success in sales; master's degree preferred
• You’ve got a strong local network in consumer products and experience developing client relationships - especially with European sports and fashion retailers and manufacturers
• You are well-versed in local customs procedures and trademark enforcement policies.
• You are adept at managing your time and have strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• You are comfortable with extensive travel, both within the region and internationally.
• Strong plus if you are fluent in French or German.
