The Expedia Financial and Core Transactions Services (FCTS) Technology team is looking for a Director of Technology to drive the strategy and execution of the technology that powers the financial engine for Expedia, Hotels, and EAN brands as well as our many travel partners. This accomplished leader will have the technical skills to implement innovative solutions that drive significant business benefit and visibility across the company.
This leader will lead and mentor a growing team of engineers located in Bellevue and Gurgaon, India. The Director will work closely with the FCTS Technology Leadership team and our Product and Business partners to advance the platform and lead several initiatives.
This leader who brings a deep commercially focused understanding of eCommerce technology in a customer centered environment. This highly visible leader will implement solutions that drive significant business benefit across the company, working with senior internal stakeholders to ensure that the customer needs of the business are met. This leader will be results-oriented, collaborative, and ready to lead teams tasked with solving hard problems. They will be expert in and passionate about agile methodologies.
What you’ll do:
• Lead the strategy and execution for FCTS product platform globally ensuring ongoing support of the existing, building new features, and supporting existing features.
• Drive platform scale for more global expansion for Hotels, Expedia, EAN, Hotwire and related brands ensuring robust support for the businesses rapid growth trajectory
• Push platform configurability and extensibility for Expedia Group partner enablement globally
• Tightly integrate with other Technology and Product leaders to drive consistency in our solutions
• Develop deep partnerships with Product Stakeholders to build growth-oriented platform products and technologies that support the business’s growth trajectory
• Maintain a strong alliance with FCTS leaders on the organizations vision, delivery and progress of the platform vision ensuring it supports the evolving business needs
• Attract, recruit and foster top talent, providing coaching and appropriate career opportunities to talented team members
• Develop close partnerships and alignment with eCP (eCommerce Platform) and brand technology leaders and teams
• Ensure appropriate translation of business requirements to technical specifications, configuration, administration, and use cases of technical tools and architecture
• Manage complex contract negotiations and creation of strategic partnerships with key technology partners
Who you are:
• 8+ years building and leading large geo distributed software engineering teams
• Effective communication and collaboration skills across internal and external partners
• Passion for customers and proven track record of delivering high quality products and services
• Deep passion for technology and ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies and practices
• Proven track record of on time delivery using agile software engineering practices
• Deep knowledge of large scale service design and architecture
• Deep knowledge of public cloud based platform services including No-SQL data systems, microservices, serverless designs, complex event processing, web security, and data analytics
• Experience building and operating large scale platform services for customers and partners
• Direct experience as a software engineer for web based applications and services
• BS/MS in computer science preferred
