The Accounting Ops Director is responsible for all areas relating to process improvements and scaling within the accounting organization and must possess strong analytical skills with a high degree of attention to detail, and must have the ability to drive cross-functional (automation and manual scaling) projects to completion. The Accounting Ops Director will also be responsible for the management oversight of the global sales commissions team.
The right candidate must be process oriented in order to identify the need, make prioritization recommendations and be influential on stakeholders and business partners to drive change initiatives. The successful candidate will be a thought leader with a proven record of leading process transformation initiatives and delivering results to trusted partners across the entire enterprise. Position Expectations:
• Re-engineer core accounting operational processes (e.g. payables, order to cash, commissions, etc.) with the goal of building processes and automation to scale and accommodate the fast growth of the company
• Hands-on with the ability to dig into the detail of a process in order to understand its complexities and dependencies with the goal of (a) leading and managing and (b) providing process improvement recommendations
• Identify and drive initiatives which automate and optimize global business processes and systems in finance, which will in-turn foster trust and accountability in financial reporting and compliance with legal, tax, audit, regulatory, Sarbanes-Oxley and local jurisdictional requirements as necessary
• Partner with cross-functional teams and global process owners to identify opportunities, prioritize and execute on process improvement
• Must become a subject matter expert in core processes in order to drive system implementation and automation including, designing, documenting, testing and implementing the various finance/accounting tools
• Monitor and analyze tasks and work product of core finance operational teams in order to improve procedures and controls, including workflow and process enhancements as well as strength of control procedures and documentation
• Assist and manage the creation and improvement of written policies and procedure documentation
• Manage the annual sales comp plan design and issuance as well as work collaboratively with external teams to review and validate the comp model through its development
• Collaborate with Finance, Sales, Sales Ops, and Legal to support and oversee the rollout of clear and concise compensation plans and new sales processes, including the provision of suggestions on comp plan design based on analytics and benchmarking
• Oversee the monthly and quarterly sales compensation process from results to calculation to payroll submission
• Oversee and review all aspects of the monthly accounting close as it relates to sales commissions, such as accruals and capitalization entries, including researching questions from other finance teams such as GL or FP&A as part of the monthly close process
Success Measures:
The Accounting Ops Manager will be successful in this role when they can execute the following strategic tasks/responsibilities:

• Meet Deadlines: Ability to meet deadlines to ensure the projects runs smoothly and remains on track
• Research and problem solving: Ability to understand process flow as well as operators performing the function(s), identify and prioritize problems, and with business systems and core management team to propose solutions
• Improvements & Scale: Successfully improve the current processes, create efficiencies, and build process that can scale with the company’s continued growth
• Hire, Develop and Retain: People are key to the organization’s success, whether incumbent or new to MongoDB, development, and growth are keys to retention
Our Ideal Candidate will have:
• 12-15 years of accounting operations experience
• BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting
• Minimum of 5 years experience with variable compensation/incentive compensation in software or high tech environment is a must
• Proactive, assertive, creative, and collaborative approach to problem-solving a high growth, rapidly changing environment
• Ownership, pride of work, and accountability are key to success in this role
• Exceptional written and verbal communications
• Ability to work cross-functionally and collaboratory across geographies
• Experience leading process transformation, shared services, project management, major systems implementation, acquisition integration with some experience with finance and compliance
• Managerial experience aligning vision, goals, and resources and delivering results
• Has a thorough understanding of the company and general ledger structure and ensures accounting operations setups align with the business
• Ability to understand the complexity of the business, to influence and provide suggestions on comp plan design based on analytics and benchmarking
• NetSuite and Xactly Incent experience is a plus
• Ability to multitask, work under pressure and meet deadlines
