Director, Higher Ed Industry Solutions (Student Success)

The Salesforce.org Industry Solutions team is responsible for driving industry product and solution strategy, creating industry-specific products and solutions to support customer success, and working with the partner ecosystem to extend the platform to meet specific requirements. The team works collaboratively across all Salesforce lines of business and supports all geographies, globally.
We are looking for a talented and passionate Director, Higher Ed Industry Solutions, possessing a deep understanding of Higher Education market problems, common IT systems, and the extended partner ecosystem, to take a visionary, entrepreneurial approach to defining technology solution sets and driving go-to-market strategy, execution, and positioning to help revolutionize the Higher Education market.
As a leading voice on the Industry Solutions team, this role will partner closely with Product Management, Product Development, Sales, Marketing, Alliances and Customer Success. With a solid understanding of Salesforce technologies and the Higher Ed market you will cultivate a variety of channels to gain and quantify market insight, define major market success themes, and drive higher education-specific product innovation in support of overall strategy and revenue targets.
Your Impact
• Lead conversations with sales teams including account executives and sales engineers to capture customer stories, lessons learned, critical product gaps, and architectural approaches addressing problems across the student lifecycle
• Create a compelling vision and execute on both short-term and medium-term solutions from within current technology set which can meet current Higher Education needs and positively impact business objectives, including packaging, bundling, targeted/improved pricing strategies, and sales/marketing enhancements
• Own a Point of View for Salesforce.org solutions, including directional roadmap and how it works with/leverages partner integrations, and be the Salesforce.org go-to resource for those solutions
• Develop relationships with key Higher Education partners and customers to help inform decision making and provide advocacy for our solutions in-market
• Provide content and thought leadership in the development of sales playbooks and sales enablement programs, and support enablement and sales activities across sales and sales engineering teams
• Create messaging and positioning for Higher Education solutions across the student lifecycle, including positioning and solutions for existing Salesforce products as well as industry-specific products and partnerships
• Work with sales, marketing, and solution engineering in developing content and content strategy for external messaging and development of marketing campaigns
• Drive awareness around Higher Education Industry thought leadership, customer success, solutions, assets, partners and customer trailblazers
• Represent Salesforce.org as a product expert at customer interactions, industry and corporate events, and through community sites such as the Power of Us Hub.
Critical Skills
• 8+ years’ experience as a product manager or product marketer for education technologies or related discipline
• Demonstrated ability in launching and growing innovative solutions and products
• Understanding of Salesforce products, AppExchange partners, partner consulting capabilities and solutions, and other portfolio of capabilities that can be used to build out the Higher Education Industry Solutions portfolio
• Strong management and business skills required, along with the ability to present to and collaborate with different levels of management including executive leadership
• Highly organized, ability to coordinate activities to drive alignment and attainment of goals
• Skillful in collaboration and diplomacy to ensure smooth working relationships across matrixed teams
• Able to multitask in a fast paced environment and exercise a high degree of initiative in resolving issues and developing process enhancement recommendations
• Excellent team player able to work with virtual and global cross functional teams and lead through influence
• Excellent written and oral communication skills. Comfortable and effective in small group and large group presentations. Experience and a proven track of participating in industry forums and critical sales cycles. Compelling and accurate writing ability
• Passion for technology and its opportunity to better enable higher education. Flexible and adaptive
• Up to 20% travel including occasional international travel required
