Corporate Communications Director, Thought Leadership
DESCRIPTION
Audible is seeking an entrepreneurial and dynamic Corporate Communications Director to shape and execute thought leadership initiatives across the organization that amplify Audible’s expertise as a media company and our deep commitment to elevating the communities in which we work. Thought leadership campaigns will leverage the diverse expertise of leaders across speaking engagements, events, and earned media to continuously elevate the brand. Reporting to the Vice President of Global Corporate Communications, the role will proactively drive and deliver on thought leadership campaigns within the growing charter of the Global Corporate Affairs team. This role will oversee the development of a portfolio of thought leadership activity celebrating Audible’s disruptive, high-energy technology-driven culture, our deep commitment to Newark’s revitalization and the value of Audible as a tool for learning, enrichment and entertainment. Working cross-functionally and alongside leadership, the Director will execute strategy across earned media and external event engagements. The successful candidate is highly-organized, keeps focused in the face of competing priorities, is passionate about relationship-building and thrives in a fast-paced, growing, and energetic environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop thought leadership portfolio of conferences, speaking events and other opportunities to showcase leadership across a spectrum of expertise and functions in alignment with an integrated communications plan
• Supports executive communications by informing bylines in coordination with colleagues on the Corporate Affairs team
• Cultivates and maintains influencer, business and trade media relationships across strategic imperatives for thought leadership in support of increasing Audible’s profile and visibility
• Helps Audible experts and thought leaders build social presence
• Creates talking points, preparedness documents and supports the development and review of presentation materials for varying stakeholders across the organization
• Manages relationships with key organizations and event partners
• Respond to industry developments in a timely and comprehensive manner, and contribute to the successful positioning of the organization
• Collaborates across Audible’s community, content, marketing, PR, creative, product and communications teams
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum of 10+ years of applied communications experience with strong project management skills, background in public relations preferred
• College degree in social sciences or humanities required
• Established relationships with event organizers, editorial boards, and earned media
• Comfortable providing strategic communications counsel and public speaking advice to leaders
• Exceptionally strong interpersonal, verbal communication, and writing skills
• Passion for and strong interest in the spoken-word category
• Subject matter expertise - knowledge of the conference, speaking events, and thought leadership platform landscape
• Event Management – experience with managing events and optimize engagement ROI
• Written communication - exceptional short and long form writing skills, strong line-editing, copyediting and proofreading skills, varies writing style to meet needs
• Oral communication – persuasive, engaging; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; actively participates in meetings
• Proactive, agile, solution-facing, and future-forward thinker
• Capacity to work across teams at the highest levels of the Audible organization and maintain professionalism
• Superior attention to detail
• Technical skills—strong Word, Excel and PowerPoint ability
• People skills—enjoys working with people, and understands discretion and diplomacy
