ABOUT THE ROLE
Audible is seeking a Senior Director of Product to lead product strategy for our audio player and library experiences across all of our applications including iOS, Android, Web, Fire Tablets, Fire TV, Kindle E-Readers and Alexa devices. Combined, these two elements represent the heartbeat of the Audible customer experience. This role will dramatically affect the premium nature of our business and ensure customers around the world have a best-in-class experience.
This role will serve as a strong leader who will lead and influence a cross functional team of resources and will be responsible for crafting and delivering a strategy for each device platform. You will be responsible for delivering a suite of world-class delightful customer experiences that showcase the very best of Audible, while creating the most simple, intuitive and delightful customer experiences. You will be responsible for cultivating a team culture that excels in both the art of developing beautiful and category-defining solutions, as well as the science of applying a data-driven experimentation-oriented mindset that sits at the foundation of all decisions.
You will relentlessly focus on customer needs, working with user experience designers and technical innovators to craft product features that will surprise and delight our customers. You will act as the spiritual leader within Audible for audio quality and how customers aggregate their content by establishing yourself as the domain subject matter expert within the company.
You will be a leader on the ultimate vision and strategy of your product area. You will be responsible for the customer voice as you work with data, design, technical, and business leaders to set strategy and define the product.
ABOUT YOU
You are a proven product leader and an obsessive audiophile who is fully immersed in the latest audio technology pertaining to studio recording practices, encoding/compression algorithms, multi-channel audio solutions and advanced content delivery techniques perfectly calibrated for delivery over wired and wireless networks. You are innately attuned to the various environmental aspects that can affect a customer’s listening experience while listening alone on a wide range of headphones, while on a train or in a car, or while listening together at home in your living room, kitchen or bedroom.
You also fixate on how to aggregate the media that you own. You are fascinated by how to organize and retrieve your content and are persistently curious about discovering new and innovative ways for users to organize the titles they care deeply about. Your deep empathy and inquisitiveness liberates you from the ordinary solutions and compels you to find extraordinary implementations that truly differentiates membership with Audible.
You’re an accountable, hands on problem-solver with a positive attitude, letting nothing stand in the way. You know how to clarify the path forward and prioritize work. You know how to influence others.
You’re a natural collaborator equally comfortable talking tech with developers, user experience with designers, copy and positioning with product marketers, numbers with finance and marketing, and strategy with executive leadership.

You will innately have excellent communication skills, team leadership and high judgment. You will have proven analytical capabilities, strong persuasive writing skills, deep technology understanding, broad business experience and the tenacity to develop ideas independently and thrive in a fast-paced start-up environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Establish and continuously update the vision, strategy and roadmap for Audible’s player and library experiences on all devices.
• Collaborate with internal and external customers including technology teams and business development partners to determine which projects move forward and the priority order of each. In order to ensure business and technical stakeholder needs are aligned, the Senior Product Manager will need to drive mindful discussions that lead to crisp decisions.
• Drive product development from conceptualization through launch creating actionable plans, work streams and deliver tactics for new product features.
• Foster innovation and high standards among your team. Support them with positive incentives, develop them to their highest potential, and learn from them to improve your own skillset.
• Write market, functional and system requirements documents and ensure clear communication and coordination of requirements to business and development teams.
• Create plans that have clear, measurable success criteria.
• Manage the execution of initiatives from idea through launch, while setting and managing the right expectations with all relevant stakeholders.
• Solve ambiguous problems and proactively identify and mitigate risks (before they become roadblocks).
• Partner with UX and UX Research to define good outcomes for qualitative testing, ensuring we are building the right experience for a diverse range of cultures.
• Regularly review metrics and proactively seek out new and improved data/mechanisms for visibility, ensuring your program stays aligned with organization objectives.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• 10+ years of experience in product management.
• Extensive technical audio encoding knowledge and skills, with deep experience delivering content on iOS and Android devices.
• Exceptional writing skills. Audible has a strong writing culture: PowerPoint use is rare.
• Data-informed: Define metrics for success and failure; ability to use quantitative and qualitative data to back up assumptions and make decisions.
• Team player: Strong, demonstrated ability to rally and bring varying functional teams together, and break through stalled decision making. High emotional intelligence.
• Demonstrated experience in agile, lean startup product management processes.
• Sound business & strategy judgment, proven ability to influence others, and strong analytical thinking skills are critical to success in this position.
