DESCRIPTION
Amazon Global Logistics is leading to re-define the international shipping experience with timely, economic and trouble-free logistics solutions, moving freight from anywhere to anywhere. As part of this team, we are looking for an experienced leader to develop a common performance management system to measure quality, on-time delivery, service levels and cost for both internal performance and carrier performance. Baseline performance, monitor progress, simplify opportunity recognition and drive corrective actions based on enhanced data structure and automated statistics analysis. This leader will be expected to contribute significantly to overall business strategy, supporting tenders, negotiations, contracts, expansion, and innovations. Successful candidates must have a strong track-record of developing successful KPI management system, influencing internal/external business partners and moving the needle for performance excellence. You will be responsible for driving performance strategy, roadmap, implementation, solving difficult problems that requires collaboration across multiple functions including technology, network planning, compliance and operation teams. Your success will be measured by the impact of your deliverables on metrics system, performance improvement, support for strategic category sourcing, and long-term value added to ALG service users. The role requires up to 25% travel.
Main Responsibilities
• Develop a common performance management system to measure quality, on-time delivery, service levels and cost for both internal performance and carrier performance
• Define and implement analytical tools/technologies to support day-to-day operations and sourcing processes, surface exceptions with statistically significance and trigger mitigation actions as standard work
• Cascade and train through organization. Measure, control and benchmark performance, and drive compliance through the network including surrounding businesses aligned to overall strategy
• Put in place protocols for regular supplier performance reviews for top suppliers, support supplier selection, spend analysis, tender and negotiations
• Put in place protocols for qualifying new suppliers; train team on protocols and ensure they are consistently applied
• Develop and document strategic sourcing processes and standards for transportation category management. Train Procurement staff across regions, where needed, on processes and tools
• Develop and maintain a repository of Request for information (RFI), Request for Quotation (RFQ), and Request for Proposal (RFP) processes and templates, aligned to category
• Partner with Legal to develop a standard contract library, aligned to category, with best practice commercial terms and conditions
• Create a single methodology to track savings (purchase price variance and cost avoidance). Partner with Finance to ensure methodology is understood by the business and aligned with budget-setting processes. Track Procurement impact by category and region
• Establish processes to determine carrier health, including financial status
• Identify ways to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of category teams. Actively advocate improvements and align with stakeholders across functions for implementation projects; plan, lead and control implementation and adherence
• Lead special projects as needed to achieve performance improvements in partnership with Category Managers
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree
• Excellent verbal and written communications
• 5+ years of experience in performance management or relevant, such as spend analysis, negotiations, sourcing, compliance, etc.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in data analysis, metrics design, standard work and documentation, or similar work
• 3+ year relevant work experience in cross-functional program management
• Demonstrated strength in SQL, data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing.
• Advanced skills in Excel as well as any data visualization tools like Tableau or similar BI tools (familiarity with Tableau preferred).
• Advanced ability to draw insights from data and clearly communicate them to the stakeholders and senior management as required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• MBA, MS or MA (Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering, Mathematics or Equivalent)
• Experience leading end-to-end strategic sourcing processes, preferably in the transportation area, including spend analysis, supplier screening, benchmarking, clean-sheet costing, negotiations, supplier performance management, scorecards, contracting, and savings tracking
• Experience with use and implementation of transportation management solutions; ability to investigate and analyze business requirements, information flows, processes and procedures, to facilitate the design and development of purchasing systems solutions, including eSourcing systems
• Lean / Six Sigma experience; proven track record delivering process improvement and standardization
• International management experience
• Strong General Management skills, managing cross functional teams
