Expedia
At Expedia, we're working to be the most trusted and innovative online travel agent in the world. To get there, we need especially talented, bright, and driven people. We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join as Director of Product Management to evolve and build new internal platform products at Expedia.
In this role, you will drive the strategy and vision that guides how product managers assess, innovate, build and evolve the custom and packaged technology products that power Expedia’s internal partners. This role is inherently cross-functional -- we work closely with counterparts in software engineering, operations, program and strategy to ensure our organization is delivering with high standards. You will facilitate cross-team and cross-customer teamwork. To demonstrate investments are producing the best bang-for-buck, we author concise monthly communications for senior executives. You will coach and mentor your team of product managers, who are in turn responsible for crafting business cases, roadmaps and agile artifacts. Your efforts will ensure internal products are assisting in growing revenue, reducing cost, improving customer satisfaction, and enhancing the value of the Expedia’s brands.
This role is part of a centralized organization called Financial Systems and Core Transaction Services (FCTS). We provide technology products that are shared across Expedia’s portfolio of brands, suppliers, and financial teams. The products in your charter assist in building traveler itineraries, orchestrate sales order transactions, consolidate booking events and play an important role in processing financials.
Who you are
• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, MBA preferred.
• Significant and demonstrable industry experience in managing product teams, preferably in the e-commerce space.
• Experience leading a portfolio of products and/or projects and driving projects from concept to delivery.
• Experience building and defending financial models.
• Ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, consider tradeoffs and evaluate new ideas with internal and external partners.
• Strong interpersonal and talent management skills, including the ability to identify and develop high-potential product managers, leading in a matrix environment.
• 10+ years’ work experience in technology and/or product management positions.
What you’ll do
• You and your team will set the product strategy and vision for multiple products.
• You will build consensus for the product vision both internally and with partners throughout Expedia.
• You will evaluate the impact of trade-off decisions between org-wide programs and internal initiatives.
• You will direct the activities of product managers accountable for the development of new and existing tech products and features.
• You will identify and resolve issues that may impair a team's ability to meet strategic, financial and technical goals.
• You will hire and retain product management talent, then empower your team to achieve the organization’s vision.
• You will draw on analytical and quantitative skills, using data and metrics to back up assumptions. You'll then clearly communicate these data insights to others.
