Director of Product, Post-Booking Experiences
Expedia
Post-Booking represents the next wave of engagement and incremental growth for our consumer business - engaging customers after they make their initial purchase, helping them manage or change their booking, ensuring they get to their flight, hotel or attraction as easily as possible, and learning more about what they can do to make their trip memorable and enjoyable. In this role, you will drive the strategy and vision to innovate, build and evolve how customers travel with us.
In this role, you will work closely with brand and business partners, along with product, design, engineering and marketing colleagues to envision new features, quantify their value to travelers, and prioritize them on your products’ roadmap. You will work closely with Expedia’s research, analytics and customer support teams to prioritize top opportunities to make traveler experience better. You will be responsible for building and scaling a focused and high-skilled team of product managers. You will also track the key performance indicators of your product to showcase the value they create for Expedia’s business.
You get to:
• Set the strategy for your products and evangelize the vision with the organization.
• Understand the needs of our travelers when they engage with us: ranging from confirming what they purchased with us; enabling self-service of their bookings; discovering and exploring things to do in their destinations; expanding or adding things to their already purchased trip; or finding important information about the trip they are currently on.
• Understand creative and technological possibilities to create experiences that recognize our travelers every time and foster re-engagement and loyalty.
• Be the “go-to” person with key business partners - mobile marketing, merchandising, product shopping, advertising partners, loyalty and others - collaborating with them around possibilities and keeping them engaged in the products’ evolution.
• Recruit, develop and coach high-impact product managers to deliver great experiences and be recognized as simply the best PM’s for stakeholders, design and engineering to work with.
• Promote thinking about the why and what of new capabilities, products, features.
• Facilitate trade-off decisions among investment, schedule and traveler benefit.
• Envision, prioritize and partner with design and engineering to deliver an ambitious and winning roadmap.
• Take ownership over risk mitigation and creatively solve problems as they arise.
• Be comfortable in balancing among leadership, coaching and getting hands dirty in order to get things done.
• Passion for travel and product is a requirement, but, moreover, be deeply curious about the world, people and the product “craft” and profoundly persistent.
• Be motivated by leading the products, teams you work with and, ultimately, our travelers better off.
Requirements
• One or more degrees - arts, science, engineering, design all apply. Advanced degree nice but really want someone who is committed to life-long learning, self-awareness and self-improvement.
• 8+ years’ experience in product development and/or product management, with a more recent focus on mobile products.
• Customer-centric mindset with sharp focus on building the best possible product.
• Highly analytical product leader with track record of making product decision based on numbers.
• Shown success in delivering scalable, technology products in a high-growth environment; and noteworthy failures that shaped your view and perspective as a product leader.
• Recognized in prior roles as simply the best at prioritizing, communicating, catalyzing across a vast array of personality types, communication styles and functional disciplines.
• Possesses a certain “ethos” such that others listen and contemplate what you have to say.
• Location: some flexibility for the best person. This job will be “easiest” if you are based in Bellevue/Seattle, followed by San Francisco and Gurgaon. Regardless of location, the role will be leading a global team building a global product - travel will be part of the role.
