The Vice President of Corporate Finance will be responsible for all aspects of the global accounting, payroll, tax and procure-to-pay functions at Akamai. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, they will serve as a key financial advisor to senior management, working closely with the Chief Financial Officer and Chair of the Audit Committee. This leader will oversee a team that is directly responsible for all aspects of accounting, payroll, tax and procure-to-pay operations including maintenance and enforcement of corporate accounting policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP and SEC requirements, ensuring the integrity of the company's financial data and reporting. The Vice President of Corporate Finance will also strive for excellence and strong internal controls across the organization and provide support to operational finance leadership across the company.

About the Team
The Akamai Corporate Finance team is comprised of approximately 120 finance professionals primarily located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Krakow, Poland and Bangalore, India. The current direct reports to the Vice President of Corporate Finance include the Corporate Controller, Vice President of Tax, Director of Global Payroll, Director of Global Procure to Pay, the Krakow Finance Site Leader, and a Director of Program Management.
Responsibilities
• Responsible for insuring the effectiveness and adequacy of policies, procedures and controls for the company, creating new/improved mechanisms, policies and procedures when necessary.
• Ensure that internal and external accounting and reporting is in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and that the company is in compliance with all regulatory (SEC and other) reporting requirements. S/he will also oversee the preparation of quarterly reports on Securities and Exchange Commission Form 10-Q and annual report on Securities and Exchange Commission Form 10-K.
• Prepare consolidated financial statements and management’s discussion and analysis for Form 10-Q and Form 10-K reporting.
• Ensure consistent implementation of corporate accounting principles and procedures in full compliance with US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
• Oversee research of technical accounting and tax issues and be final decision maker with respect to accounting and tax. Also, monitor, understand and communicate pending FASB proposals, their timing and potential effects.
• Serve as principal interface with the independent public accountants (PwC) for the planning, coordination and conduct of their annual audit and other services across the company and their reporting to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.
• Present to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors on topics of special interest as well as reviews of quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Lead and engage a global team, develop future financial talent through training and mentoring of individuals, as well as staffing and recruiting of necessary skill sets.
• Consult on accounting and tax impacts of proposed transactions and advise operating executives on alternative deal structures.
• Interface with investor relations, FP&A and business finance and assist with the development of periodic earnings release materials.
• Manage effective and efficient payables, procurement and travel processes in support of company initiatives.
• Drive company-wide adoption of sourcing best practices and controls.
Required Education and Experience
Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
• 15 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Finance or Accounting or
• 12 years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree or
• 10 years of relevant experience and a PhD
Required Skills
• 15+ years of corporate experience in a publicly traded multinational corporation dealing with complex accounting matters as well as exposure to tax and treasury.
• Technical accounting background, CPA or Chartered Accountant (CA) designation. Early experience in public accounting (Big 4) is highly desired.
• Experience working in the technology industry and understanding of SAAS, recurring revenue models.
• High degree of judgment to apply a businessperson’s perspective to routine and complex financial, accounting, tax and treasury issues. Ability to quickly grasp company operations and business drivers.
• Results oriented with the ability to prioritize and deliver key initiatives. Can quickly separate the mission-critical from the nice to dos. Must demonstrate characteristics of tenacity, self-confidence and the proven ability to continually grow and contribute to a global business.
