Real Estate Accounting Analyst
The Role:
Candidate will be responsible for assisting with maintaining the monthly accounting for a fast-growing lease portfolio. Candidate will be responsible for analyzing certain income statement accounts to ensure they are recorded appropriately and will play a pivotal role in the preparation for and execution of periodic audits. This role will also require routine interaction with other departments to ensure relevant financial and accounting information is captured timely.
Responsibilities:
• Apply GAAP accounting principles to assist in preparing, analyzing and maintaining complete and accurate financial reports for a fast-growing lease portfolio.
• Assist with reviewing new leases to determine financial accounting implications.
• Update and maintain certain balance sheet account schedules.
• Assist with month-end closing process and post recurring journal entries.
• Prepare reconciliations of selected income statement and balance sheet accounts.
• Assist in performing analytics to review monthly leasing activity.
• Work with SOX team to develop and maintain control procedures and documentation.
• Assist in implementing the new leases (ASC 842) standard.
• Establish solid working relationships with various departments within WeWork.
• Assist with information requirements related to the execution of periodic audits.
• This is a fast-growing startup environment and the candidate must have willingness to pitch-in when asked to support other areas.
Degree/Licenses:
Undergraduate Degree in Accounting, CPA certification preferred.
Prior Experience:
• Detail oriented and self-sufficient
• 2-3 years of real estate accounting experience, with top-tier public accounting and/or property accounting for a global real estate company being a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to reviewing leases and applying appropriate accounting guidance.
• Understanding of US GAAP, internal controls and financial reporting required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Working knowledge of Workday and Visual Lease is preferred.
