The Senior Director, Transfer Pricing will work with Expedia's transfer pricing team and other members of the tax, finance, accounting and legal departments as well as business line professionals on all aspects of developing, implementing, maintaining, testing, and defending Expedia's transfer pricing policies.
You will provide senior level tax leadership to transfer pricing team members, set the transfer pricing strategy, act as source for mentorship on complex tax questions and issues, as well as being responsible for the team engagement & development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Partner cross-functionally with tax and business partners to develop holistic transfer pricing strategies and drive the implementation of solutions, that effectively handle risk and optimize commercial opportunities
• Advise on transfer pricing planning aspects of business expansion, including entering into new countries, reorganizations, and cross-border transactions, involving multiple jurisdictions and efficiently implement/integrate Transfer Pricing policies
• Develop and implement audit strategies to defend against transfer pricing audits and assist in transfer pricing aspects of US and non-US income tax controversy
• Lead monthly, quarterly and annual operational Transfer Pricing processes and controls related to intercompany transactions and forecasting
• Collaborate with tax as well as finance leadership to develop strategies that will deliver effective tax rate and cash tax benefits to the global enterprise, including performing financial / economic analyses and building financial valuation models
• Monitor and analyze existing and proposed tax legislation and define and implement appropriate global strategies
• Prepare and present executive level communication of project plans, achievements to broad partner group, including tax leadership team and finance leaders
• Collect and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data and reporting results and recommendations
• Draft and review intercompany agreements as well as transfer pricing documentation reports
• Attract, develop and engage a team of talented transfer pricing professionals
QUALIFICATIONS
• 15+ years of tax experience in public accounting, equivalent consulting or industry experience; eCommerce previous experience is preferred
• Demonstrated experience in transfer pricing leadership roles
• BA or BS in Finance, Tax, Business, Accounting; advanced degree and/or CPA certification preferred
• Ability to build cross-functional trusted partnerships with tax (international, VAT, global tax reporting, etc.) and business partners (business, finance, legal, accounting, etc.) to develop holistic transfer pricing strategies and drive the implementation of solutions through effective program and change management
• Experience advising on transfer pricing planning aspects of business expansion
• Dedicate experience handling tax risk, including defending international audits, and dedicatedly monitoring tax legislation to adjust global business strategies accordingly
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, influencing and organizational navigation skills, including C-suite-level engagement
• Energized by working in a dynamic, collaborative, rapidly changing and fast-growing organization, and handle several projects at a time
• Strong research, analytical, organizational and presentation ability
