Accounting Director, Technical Accounting – Policy
The Role:
Candidate will report to the Director of Technical Accounting and will be responsible for establishing and maintaining policies that directly and indirectly impact Company’s financial statements and financial controls. The position interacts with cross functional teams on a daily basis and provides guidance for general accounting, unique transactions and operational practices.
Responsibilities:
• Develop framework of company policy and draft accounting / finance policies and other related authorization matrix.
• Work with business function leaders across the company to implement, update and monitor policies.
• Act as the Subject Matter Expert to educate accounting / finance personnel and business partners across the Company to develop technical accounting awareness and talent pipeline.
• Monitor new GAAP accounting requirements and how they will impact WeWork
• Revise Company financial reports and disclosures for the effect of new accounting standards, Company accounting policy and transactions
• Exposure to complex accounting for management review.
• Participate in special projects or ad-hoc analysis.
• Establish solid working relationships with various departments within WeWork.
• This is a fast-growing startup environment and the candidate must have willingness to pitch-in when asked to support other areas.
Prior Experience:
• Minimum 8 years of accounting experience with time spent in policy group, with top-tier public accounting being a plus.
• Undergraduate Degree in Accounting, CPA certification required.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare accounting policy memos by reviewing
• Strong knowledge and understanding of US GAAP, internal controls and financial reporting required.
• Working knowledge of Workday is preferred.
