JOB DETAILS:
Salesforce's Corporate Development team is responsible for helping shape our strategy by identifying industry trends, maintaining relationships with relevant external partners, as well as sourcing, negotiating, structuring, and executing strategic acquisitions and investments.
The Salesforce Corporate Development team is one of the most active teams in the enterprise software space with ~25 acquisitions over the past 3 years. The M&A team is small, and this opportunity provides fantastic exposure and an ability to make a material difference to Salesforce's long-term trajectory. Representative acquisitions include Mulesoft, Demandware, Krux, and Quip.
The Sr. Director, Corporate Development and M&A will manage corporate development activities ranging from identifying, evaluating, and executing public and private company acquisitions and other strategic initiatives. This role will support all aspects of the transaction evaluation and execution, from idea generation through valuation, due diligence, negotiations, transaction structuring, and planning. The position will be based in San Francisco.
We are looking for someone who understands the M&A processes with prior experience in Corporate Development, Investment Banking or Consulting. The Senior Director will ideally have 12+ years of total experience.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead the evaluation, diligence, and execution of acquisitions for Salesforce with cross-functional teams and Salesforce executives
• Work with business units on strategy, including identifying and prioritizing strategic gaps, evaluating build/buy/partner options and collaborating on target selection and recommendations
• Conduct rigorous analysis including valuation and financial modeling to provide detailed guidance and insight regarding potential acquisitions & investments
• Act as day-to-day lead on transactions and support interactions with internal and external constituents
• Communicate recommendations to senior management in a clear, concise and impactful way
• Maintain a strong network to inform deal flow and key trends

Intellectual curiosity and true passion for technology impacting both consumers and businesses is critical for success in this role.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
• 12+ years of total experience and a strong educational pedigree (MBA preferred, but not required)
• Prior corporate development experience preferred
• Experience in investment banking or management consulting / corporate strategy
• An understanding of and demonstrated interest in technology and enterprise software
• Ability to manage multiple projects with proven leadership
• Demonstrated familiarity with M&A processes and finance
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to influence and build credibility as a "peer" with key constituents across Salesforce
• Ability to motivate, collaborate, and work successfully in a team environment
• Strong attention to detail along with organization and follow-through skills
• High level of energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to success
• Salesforce familiarity and product knowledge is a plus
